I understand why we can't know what's going on behind the scenes right now, but I hope when things have settled down a bit (and it's in the clubs best interests) we actually find out! Lots of things have been said, things don't add up, and we've often heard things from only one point of view, it'd be nice to get some clarity!
So many questions to be answered! I guess we are unlikely to hear the full story any time soon. What Holt fall out with Culverhouse over? It seems he has fallen out with everyone, presumably 99% are rumours
i wasn't there so obviously can't say for sure but i've heard it was to do with a 'lack of effort' in training. it may have been diet but i'd just be guessing on that. the effort thing has been mentioned by a few people.
Ah yeah, that has cropped up- I hadn't realised it was specifically with Culverhouse though. To be honest, the timing is the thing that matters- ultimately, all the Holt stuff went down a couple of weeks ago- well before anything was finalised with Lambert to Villa. The fact that this was all so sudden, makes me think that Holt really did just go a bit mental because he was told he was "too old". Given that this was the day after Hodgson had announced the England squad and it was quite clear that the only reason Holt wasn't in it was because of his age, that was probably a little insensitive
what i will say is that i do still totally believe that culverhouse will go to villa. the thompson thing is a coincidence i expect. he was, after all, sacked by celtic for personal issues, or should i say 'lifestyle issues'. intriguing but likely to be irrelevant to our situation
Thompson was not sacked at Celtic he quit according to BBC report http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18319883 Thompson used to play for Aston Villa and there are rumours that he is going to join up with Lambert. That being the case then that would surely throw doubt on Iain Culverhouse going to Villa. Not sure if this is significant or not, but Paddy Power had betting for the Norwich job up on their website today, but not long after Thompson story broke the betting on manager is no longer available. Might be nothing but bookies are not daft and if they suspect that an appointment could be imminent or that lots of money are being placed on someone they would suspend the betting. Iain Culverhouse was 18-1, another interesting one was a lot of money was going on Tim Sherwood who had fallen down in the odds. There was a Norwich board where someone posted he would be next manager.
Probably right Supers but why did PL take Culverhouse to Colchester and then to Norwich? Was it just for his coaching abilities or was it because he needed someone who knew the area and clubs too? Thompson knows Villa and the area! A club like Villa could employ Thompson, Culverhouse and Karsa although wouldn't it be funny if PL ditched Culverhouse now! Not for poor Ian obviously but it would show up just how ruthless PL actually is. He will probably wait until we have a new manager in place who will want his own coaching staff and then he can reunite with IC. Trouble is sooner or later if you tread on enough toes it will come back to bite you!
i think that bbc report is wrong to be honest. there are a number of high profile scottish journalists who have said it is to do with his behaviour away from celtic park which have caused the sacking. its not impossible he quit but it will have been over these allegations, not any potential new job offer i would think. doesn't mean he won't end up at villa park but it strikes me as a coincidence more than anything. i also find it impossible to believe that lambert would choose not to take culverhouse and karsa with him unless something has happened between them because as i say, they are a team and the reason they've done so well is because of that. lambert would be in danger without them. culverhouse probably did 90% of the work on the training ground and half the work on a matchday - that's a lot of reliance! lambert wasn't even at the training ground most of the week!! that kind of trust doesn't get dismissed. as for tim sherwood, absolutely no way he should get the job. this is no time for a novice.
I agree that Culverhouse is the power behind Lambert and would be surprised if he doesn't go to Villa. It's strange that there has been no mention of him leaving, though. I would be very happy if he stays.
Talking of ex-players in No 2 positions, anyone think Kevin Bond may be an outside bet. Done a good job with 'arry at Spurs ?
