NO! Never!!! Do you not know, it was written in the anal's of Big Chris and his magic sauces that his thread has been prophesised as eternal.
Sorry Jersey mate wrong again. 516 As for the Church being evil, if you don't know the history of your own faith there's no hope for you mate. History is littered with atrocities done in the name of your faith!
Problem is mate we need to keep the dream alive this weekend. But I have faith in the Lord Bruce he shall lead us through this barren patch and take us upward to the glories of........ 8th?
Ah and it came to pass that Big Chrissus words fell on stony ground and when those evil heretics that did not believe in him complained, the Almighty Syd did smite him down and he now wanders alone in the wilderness.

I brought up Pol Point to prove a point which was easy to understand and written in plain English. You obviously choose to ignore it as you have with most of my points. (The point being that it is just/right to punish men as evil as Pol Pot, most would agree with that statement.) The point was made that Christianity is homophobic. I quite catergocially gave you an example to the contrary which you totally ignored. Right from the off. Yes, I did claim you had stopped arguing for yourself. You did after all, provide me with a link! I then made the point (more than once), that whilst bad things have indeed been done in the name of the Church, the same can be said of any organisation of belief (religious or non-religious), in history. This doesn't make any of those beliefs incorrect. I used democracy as an anology. You clearly struggle with analogies however. Democracy may not be directly linked to God but the analogy works very well. As for Genesis 1-11: "It wasn't metaphorical when written, as that is what they believed in those uneducated times." Do you have any proof as to the veracity of this statement? Do you really believe that they did not understand metaphors? If someone was educated enough to read and write, metaphor probably wasn't beyond them. The Psalms are clearly poems; you agree? Do we thus have to still take them literally? Out of interest, how much have you read into textual criticism generally? Not specifically biblical textual criticism, but any form? And yes, you are quite correct, I have not attempted to build up a case 'for' the existence of God in my posts, I set out to dismiss the notion being argued that the Church was entirely homophobic and also to dismiss the idea that any istitution in itself (including the Church) is evil. It is the humans that are evil, not the insitutions. I hope this post is short enough.
**** me that's three things we agree with, people will say we are in love xxx. Sorry, wtf is you point?!? -so far it's been something like: I'll prove you wrong, in doing so that makes me right. No it doesn't! Let me make it plain : (and let's go back to the original topic) Do you believe in a creator? Please try and provide us with something to support that belief if that is you position, above all else please have a position. Well there are many examples, slavery was lovely for those that were saved from being savages for instance and converted to Christianity. A more recent one could be the Catholic Church in Africa telling congregations not to use condoms as they promoted promiscuity, also they had perforations that enabled the virus to spread. The argument goes further to suggest with all this added naughtiness, more people will have sex with multiple partners, thinking it safe. Well done, advice seeking action from the pulpit that was responsible for tens of thousands of deaths in East Africa. The agencies, NGO's and government officials at the time, the early 1990's, were exasperated by the church's stance and the sheer irresponsibility of it's message. But hey, am talking to you God folk, what does silly science know eh? You really ought to be ashamed.
Pointless asking if you are being obtuse deliberately as you clearly are. I don't want anologies I want proof. You're just like the rest cherry picking the bits of the bible or worse still making excuses for the ridiculous parts. Why didn't God correct the mistakes it would save all the arguments? I know, to test our faith in him! (How convenient) The Bible has been handed down over the centuries as the word of God. Now Christians have moved the goalposts and say, well some of it's the word of God other bits are like you know metaphors. When I was getting taught RE at school and in Sunday school no one mentioned anything about "metaphors" or this bit may not be true but we teach you it anyway. It seems your only argument is having faith makes you good! Are you saying we would only punish the likes of Pol Pot because of religion? I have no faith and I would punish people who do evil, so all your analogies are like your faith pointless. By the way I'm a pretty good guy to others without needing the crutch of religion. Being good isn't about faith it's about doing the right thing!
He may end up on Golgotha if he resurrects himself. May be best if we leave him lying and we can worship from afar.
The Church may have done some bad things in the past. But you can't continually judge things on their past. People ignore all the good that the Church (Catholic and others) does in today's world. CAFOD, Christian Aid and other agencies promote third world development. As for the AIDS thing, I may be wrong, but the statistics show that Uganda is the only place where the rate of AIDS is going down, and that's the only place that doesn't have a national contraception programme; the Church has been preaching abstination from sex instead.
(and if you're judging things solely on the past, N*wcastle have to be a better club than Sunderland, and we both know that's not true )
