Brilliant. Let's hope this is the first of many and can convince the rest of the quality players to stick around rather than constantly talking of "considering options".

  6. He must have been told something by both his club and Levy to make him feel so confident.

Hiag,I too noticed his confidence and he's not a big mouth either. I like the look of this footballer. Now let's get a couple of bloody good strikers in. I still think Ade is lacking something.

  8. Me, too.

I'd rather have Ade on the field, than either Defoe or Saha, but we need a striker with more goals in him.

you say that though HIAG, but if what Ade scored/assisted wasn't enough....how much are we going to have to spend to get that striker who's going to give ius 25/30 goals in a season? surely that's about £30mill+? - we're never going to spend that!

Sounds like it's very close, but then it has done for a while now.
Hopefully it'll get sorted out over the weekend.

I really hope that we can get Adebayor in on a permanent deal, but we need to sort out appropriate back-up and competition for him.
I like Defoe, but he can't play the lone role, so we might need almost a total overhaul of our strikers.
Hard to do make that happen and not screw it up.

i tend to agree with you PNP.

I also don't think Defoe is going to want to play the role he's currently playing, next season. Perhaps this is why we're hearing on a 14 mill bid for leandro already. maybe harry and levy know this, and are getting the players in early, so they get to know one another, and play with their new team mates nice and early on?

If we don't sign Ade, it's going to be a complete overhaul anyway. <yikes>

Saha's gone, Defoe might want out, Ade won't be with us...and there's even the potential that Rafa could leave. (most likely bullshit IMO.) No club could deal with even 3 out of 4 of that happening, without a major negative affect.

keeping Ade and Rafa is a must.

Whilst we might technically be signing him if we got him for next season having Ade in our team is more like keeping a player than signing a player, really only leaving us with potentially two backup players to sign so I wouldn't say it's an overhaul.

I was disappointed we didn't keep Saha, he would've made a good 3rd choice striker for next season. I guess that maybe he was wanting more regular football because I can't see why we wouldn't want to keep him.

I share your concern about potentially two other strikers coming in and having to settle to our style and develop an understanding with our players. Ade made it look easy but if you're in and out of the team like the backups will be it could prove difficult.

Ade scored 17 in 35 appearances. That ain't too shabby. Add in his invaluable link- up play, and he's a must have, IMO.

I agree NSIS, which is why I was asking HIAG who he had in mind, for more goals than that! don't forget the assists either! :)

  16. Not only that, but some people forget he had 3 perfectly good goals disallowed.
As far as I can see there are not too many 20 goal a year strikers in the PL particularly if they also contribute so effectively to the team play.

  17. Jan Vertonghen, 25, says he does not care that Tottenham will not play in the Champions League next season, as the defender closes in on a £14m move from Ajax to White Hart Lane.

We might not be in the CL next season but we will be the season after I think. With no speculation and court cases and a good centre back like we're getting and I'm sure we'll sign a striker or two we will make it. We were 4th this season so with a good settled atmosphere then why not. Liverpool won't be a threat and Chelsea still need a new boss. RDM will not fit the bill there. Arsenal had a season of inconsistency so COYS,you can do it.

  19. It's going to be interesting to see how the Gooners fare without RVP.

6th or 7th would be my guess <ok>
