If the Villa job was not for Lambert and there was a compromise to be had with Holt, would you welcome them back?

Do you think that there standing at the club has been damaged beyond repair?

How do you think history will see this?

Strange question, but curious.
 
I don't think its a question which needs answering, Lambo has clearly severed his self from the club & Holt is fast approaching that point IMO, so to answer..... simply cant see how the fans would be able to sing there praises from the stands after the way the pair have conducted them-selves, as Simon Cowel would say " Its a no from me"

Lambert: Yes. We took a hardline stance in this situation. Letting Lambert talk to Villa would have been a better avenue, he might then have done the same as Martinez (given permission, then turned it down, and reaffirmed his commitment). We always knew he was destined for a bigger club, so his decisions are understandable. He has taken this club from the base of League 1 to a survivor in the Premier League. Whatever fans say about him, if he were to apologise and stay, I think he would be accepted back with open arms.

Holt: PR disaster! Seriously bad errors of judgement to piss the fans off with both a transfer request and then a public twitter plea of discontentment and desire to leave. IMO he is damaged no matter the result, but there are always paths to redemption, and scoring goals next season, would be a good start to repair his relationship with the fans.
 
According to his twitter account he is back in Carlisle now. Probably gonna have talks with Villa over the weekend.

Holt has 3 options:

1) He can apologise and play next season for Norwich
2) He can rot in the reserves, if he maintains his current attitude
3) He can join Villa/another club, for an extortionate amount of money, doubled if it is Lambert's new club.

I prefer either 1 or 3, 2 would be a shame...

I mean don't you think that this has been bubbling in the background for both Lambert and Holt for quite some time? It will be interesting to see if Whitbread end up there, then we will know for sure.

True, I'm sure he'll have been speaking to Lambert. Going by McNally's tweet, I would say Holt to Villa is a no go. Sadly it does feel as if this was planned for a while. I feel cheated.

If the rumour about the transfer budget at Villa is true, then they simply don't have enough money to buy him. Not unless they only make 1 or 2 signings this summer. I still think Holt will be a Norwich player next season, not least because he and his agent have massively overplayed there hand. McNally holds all the ace's here, hence Holt having to take to twitter in desperation...

The way I see it is we've given them both tremendous opportunities which they've both taken well, we've supported them both to hilt given them respect, then the moment a bit of money is flashed at them they run towards it like whores, not even thinking of the people who made them what they are today. This has been planned for a while I reckon both of them are in it together, grateful for the 3 years of success but there was other players and other people involved not just them.

The way they have handled this situation has been disgusting they're royally trying to **** us over at the moment they're threatening our existence Lambert wants to take our best players with him. They're not our friends their our enemies and enemies they'll remain for life the sooner people wake up and start realising that the better.

that's an interesting scenario. Villa barely stayed up last season, they were poor. I'd like to say we are a stronger team than Villa right now, they need more than a couple of signings, and we are likely to make a few yet. They can't just blow all the cash on Holt as it would leave them short. How much would McNally value Holt at? I'm betting no less than 5 million.

If the budget story is true then it does seem a like for like change for Lambert, I don't really get it. I think he may have been hoping for the Liverpool job, Liverpool have missed a trick here in my opinion.

Will they be a stronger force than Norwich next season? Arguable for sure.

Football moves quickly. United still love Rooney. Man City fans were even warming to Tevez again.

If Holt stays and bags a load of goals, we'll all forgive him.

We don't know what's motivated it, probably money yes. But is a small pay rise not justified when you consider how much of our recent success are down to his goals?

As has been pointed out in other posts, you give into one player and very soon they'll all be knocking on McNally's door. Financial stability for Norwich City is more important than Grant Holt.
