Florent Cuvelier has had his 1 year option taken up by Stoke. The Belgium U21 international was technically out of contract in June of thsi year, but after a successful Loan Spell for League 1 outfit Walsall where he scored 4 goals in 18 appearances, Stoke have taken up their option. Cuvelier is prepared to bide his time at getting a crack at 1st team action for Stoke and claims he is "an attacking midfielder. I like to get up and down, create chances, get shots in and score goals". Andy Wilkinson added further weight to his potential by claiming his style is similiar to that of Jack Wilshere! I think he signed for something like 3.5 million from Portsmouth?
Aye, good to see we're keeping hold of him. I was thinking the other day, are this guy, Lund and Arismendi all going to be part of the 'clear out' we're meant to be having seen as Mama, Woody, and no doubt other aging players will be sticking around. Glad to see we're keeping hold of some young talent, hopefully well see him soon.
It wouldnt suprise me if your right. I dont think he has signed a new 2 year deal with an option, I think Stoke have just taken up the final year option and so he will be out of contract this time netx year.
Great news on the one hand BUT as said above.. Will Pulis actually give these lads a chance. I KNOW they may not be quite " the perfect item" but neither are Delap,Whitehead,Whelan etc? All have good bad and bloody awful games but repeatedly get into the team?? If you do not play these guys, we're wasting both Stoke's time and the player's involved IMHO. Arismendi did more than enough to show against VERY GOOD opposition he could easily "cope with anything he had to do" and some NOT sure about this contract myself tbh but seem's he's ours for another season at least. Take a chance Tony, cos until you do we'll never know just how good or not they really are at this level. If they can PASS to another Stoke player and create anything going forward, why not? Diego did it in Europe I'm sure he could do that against the majority of Prem teams.
