hey all, long time no post, i don't really follow flat racing so much..
that aside, do any of you know about greyhound racing form? i have a mate who has a retired racing greyhound so i offered to look up what he'd got up to in his racing days, dug out his form on the racing post, and then i got a bit stuck.
i'm ok with the date, track, distance, trap, pos, fin and time columns, but the form one has me stumped.
i've looked at glossaries and dog racing sites which have given me the abbreviations, but nowhere does it actually explain the race descriptions. there's some like ran on well and led 3rd which look reasonably obvious, but can anyone tell me what these mean:
crowded
baulked
bumped
rails run up
missed break
bumped start
FnLm - is that finished lame? he ran a solo race after that and carried on racing for a few years after.
also, what's the split column?
the dog by the way has a lovely temperament and is incredibly placcid even with me who doesn't like dogs. he never seems to get nervous or snatchy. well and truly retired to a happy living he is.
anyways, any help appreciated.
thanks
