Of course we had problems, a ****ing great fixture back log coupled with injuries and suspensions!

In previous years it made no difference having injuries or a huge fixture list or suspensions. You fell approx 20 pts from the top of the league this time...you came second the last time you got to the champions league final and had injuries, suspensions and fixture congestion plus Avram Grant that time. I ain't mocking ... simply making a point.

Plus a bigger AND better squad with Deco, Anelka, Alex, Carvalho, Ballack, Belletti - do I need to go on?

I think the difference this season was that we were the only ones fighting in all competitions. You and Arsenal (especially Arsenal) had plenty of rest between games compared to us. I'm not one for complaining about the rigorous fixtures of the Premier League but surely people can understand why we came 6th? We justified it perfectly by winning two MAJOR trophies.

Thats why I said i thought Chelsea needed a player like Modric... not everyone on this board is having a dig... I said that you need to get new players in relation to the question posed re do you still need Modric.

My point is that it was a very risky thing ... especially as it relied on Bayern not taking their chances. I ain't having a dig but my point was that if Bayern had taken a chance then you'd not have CL football next season...and next year you need new players maybe like Modric to be back in contention.
I don't agree that Chelsea were undeserving winners etc etc I am only answering the original question and in all honesty if Robben had scored the match penaltythen I doubt any chelsea fan would have said 6th was ok...the margins are very thin and I doubt chelsea will want to be in a similar position next year.

Having signed Hazard ,our next target MUST be Hulk! Thats it as far as our spending goes, so...no Modric ...we dont need him!

Don't forget Marin. I think for the price he was an excellent bit of business.
Hopefully De Bruyne will have a roll to play too because he has great potential.

Get Hulk and we'll be finished bar unexpected departures.

Even so I think the Modric boat has sailed, if we do sign someone in the central midfield area it needs to be an alternative as Modric has been overpriced and theres too much of a grudge, to be honest if anyone in the midfiled is going to go then in order it will be Essien, Meireles, Lampard, Mikel, Ramires with the latter 3 definitely staying

If we are looking at the prem based players the alternatives were Tiote, Fellaini, Cabaye and Song. All would cost 20m or less and would be improvements on Essien or Meireles in my opinion

But after H & H i dont see no more big changes unless Fernando leaves but that seems to have been quashed

Ok ... I'll bite and give a serious reply.

Firstly you won the biggest trophy in Europe ( i know you had luck but then look at the luck that Barca had in previous years or united etc. etc.) and the FA Cup but....in the league you undoubtedly had problems even after you got rid of AVB...You've lost Drogba who was a massive player for you especially in big matches and while Lampard has recaptured his form (in a slightly deeper position) along with Cole, I think there are problems beyond AVB that still excist.
Secondly you look like you've won the race for the Hulk and Hazard but I'm not sure they are all you need to catch up the massive gap between you and the top of the prem.
Thirdly, while I was in favour of selling Modric for £40m Levy seems to hold a grudge...he won't have forgotten about the Frank Arnesen (spelling) row all those years ago and he seems determined to kill the idea that we can be walked over by more successful clubs when it comes to our players so I doubt that you'll get him this season either...but I do think you need a player like him...hope you don't get one but I think that you'll have your pick of players along with city. If you don't strengthen wisely you could well find yourself in a similar situation next season and find that your luck runs out (like the year of the other Barca semi final)...like I said all successful teams need luck...but you can't rely on getting it.

Unlike other Chelsea fans on here, I agree with you completely. We are desperate for a really creative midfielder. Modric is the type of player we need, but in my opinion not THE player we need.
In the CL we almost never won the midfield battle or dominated possession, shots, corners or any of the statistics that point to who was the better team. We did however win the games, the defence stats, our counter attack was great, and our courage and determination made us worthy winners. In the PL, despite our schedule, we struggled all year and will continue to do so until our midfield is strengthened by the right type of player. No disrespect to Mata, Ramires, Mikel or the others, they are amongst the best in the PL at what they do. It's just that the missing link, a Modric, Sjnieder type of player, will transform our entire team. Man U are in a similar position and are going for Sjnieder of the Japanese midfielder from the Bundesliega.

Why do people keep saying we've signed Hazard? We haven't and until it's there in black & white on the web-site there's a chance he won't sign. I wouldn't put it past the mercenary twat to do a u-turn. Remember Robinho? (thank **** we never signed him by the way)!

You DO know who Joe Lewis is right?

You do know Spurs are self financing and as rich as Joe Lewis is, he doesn't fund the club. Otherwise we would be paying stupid money for the likes of Hulk and Hazard as well.

Sugar Daddy Dictionary definition:
Sugar daddy is a slang term for a man who offers money or gifts to a younger person in return for companionship or sexual favours

I fail to see how Roman constitutes a Sugar Daddy, he is giving money to a football club, not a person, the club is about 60 years older than him, so how could he be its "daddy".
And unless Roman has been getting creative with the training cones after hours, I fail to see where sexual favours come into play.

How Roman gets his jollies is his business, but the term is spot on.

"Literally" <laugh>. You literally don't know what that word means.

I know my sense of humour is naff but don't be a **** HD. It don't suit you.

Once again, we can afford these players because of the income received when we won the Champions League/reached the final. Even you lot were babbling on about signing Hazard earlier this year so I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

we didn't say anything about signing Hazard,He said he was intrested in coming to Spurs, but that was just the start of his whoring around all the clubs in europe

"Harry Redknapp confirms Tottenham are interested in signing Lille forward Eden Hazard, but he's also linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid (Observer)"

Oh and him saying he was interested in joining Spurs was due to your interest in him.

How in the hell is it spot on, A sugar Daddy is an old man who gives money to a younger woman in exchange for sexual favours. I fail to see how thats spot on at all when there is no young woman or sexual favours involved.
He could be described as our benefactor or as a financier, but Sugar Daddy?!?
Its like these idiots who call us Chelski when "Ski" is a Polish suffix. Chelskov would be correct.
