Could we, and should we, go for Martinez?

Now that Brendan is gone, we have a big dilemna. Ultimately the club need to appoint a new manager quickly and one who will not only roll with our current style but be able to secure decent players. It's perfectly reasonable to expect someone at Rodgers level: after all, he didn't get everything right. Lita anybody?

To me it seems that Robbo is a decent candidate - however I'm aware that there are those who might still feel ill-feeling towards him for moving, and due to the interest of Aston Villa we may not get him. So, Swans faithful;

should Huw give Wigan a call or not?
 
No for a number of reasons; the main one being I'm getting tired of giving a platform of opportunity to build something to the young manager set only to be used as a stepping stone and dumped with minimal regard to our continuity and well being the moment it suites. Martinez is still one of that set.

I'd rather hire a proven, top-flight but progressive manager, who's been there done that and isn't going to be dazzled the moment a "big" club gets a moment of attention deficit and fires their manager. I think we need somebody who recognizes our value proposition and the value of our project and is willing to commit to the true length of a contract. We're in the big game, we offer a lot of value to a manager that wants to be progressive in the game.

Sometimes yeah, but Daglish was out of the managing system for a while. Martinez might be different.

Not for me thanks....lets go for another young hungry manager. Is it to early to approach Monk to manage??? Think we can all agree that all Rodgers really did was successfully merge Martinez's attacking style with Sousa's defending style whilst adding his own input....Monk has been there for all 3 of them (including Jackett who many say had a bigger input with us than he is given credit for) so surely he is in a very good position to have a pop??? or not???
 
Jackdan ... I like your devotion to and recognition of loyalty but this is no time to blood somebody as green as Monk. On top of that he doesn't have the license required to manage in the Prem. We need top shelf, we deserve it, the players deserve it. Let him serve an apprenticeship first.
 
I was thinking it may be a bit early but eventually I think he will be an ideal candidate for the reasons I mentioned. Top shelf costs money...i think we will end up going for someone who has reached upper half of the spanish league or dutch league. Then again Villas Boas doesnt really need the money given his bumper pay off from Chelsea....could be an avenue that is worth having a look at as not many top top clubs are really looking for managers at the minute
 
dont underestimate the job Brendan did - yes he inherited a footballing team but he took the Total Football philosophy to another level - its crucial that we maintain that style but we might have to go abroad to find someone
 
Villas boast was a good shout, a point to prove no previous baggage with the club and did try to play football at chelsea. but i have heard a whisper curbs.
 
Why the hell would he come to us? He's probably got a bigger budget at Wigan ...

If he was prepared to come to us I would take him though, top manager.
 
Martinez is a **** simples, i would never have him back here in a million years, he finished his work with us years ago, coming back would be just like trying to re-invent the wheel !!! pointless mun!
