1. I think that bits of the bible are very closely connected with God, the official line is that they were inspired by God to write these things. I think that the 4 Gospels are true, they were written quite close to the death of Jesus and can be considered to be accurate

2. I don't know what you mean by that

3. I don't know, if you spend your life doing good deeds and being an overall great guy, I suppose that would be the general prerequisites for getting to Heaven, but you would feel pretty stupid if you lived as an atheist. Everyone has their beliefs, I don't want to convert anyone.

4. A pretty popular theory is that our minds are in His image, so we get 'given' superiority. But I'm not too sure about that, it's OT.

So my BELIEF that the Bible is a pile of regurgitated stories edited and re-edited over the centuries to fit in with what the church wanted pushed forward at the time makes me a ******?

That isn't what you said though is it

May this "******" ask you a couple of questions? (****** is a step up from what the Skunks call me. <ok>)

After all always good to enlighten the unenlightened.

1/ Do you believe The Bible is the word of God? (Or one of those that conveniently dismiss the majority of it that is clearly bullshit.)

**** question. phrase it properly and I'll entertain it.

2/ Where can I find one of these detestable FOUR LEGGED insects that are not good to eat? (Don't want to eat one just see one. As we only have SIX LEGGED ones here on Earth.)

where did I mention a four legged insect?

3/ Will NOT believing in Jesus mean we go to hell?

i have offered my own thoughts on this already

4/ IF we were made in HIS image how come we have such **** eyesight, sense of smell and strength, compared to the lower animals?

I read that in a metaphorical sense

By the way I am not disputing whether Jesus existed, he quite probably did, along with thousands of others at that time making the same claims. Regurgitating the same stories passed down verbally for centuries before his birth.
He wasn't the only one claiming to be the Son of God.
How did he end up the main man?
Probably his followers were better at ripping off the uneducated people at that time, taking and ASKING FOR their offerings to the Lord which conveniently went to themselves.
In essence he was a very good conman amongst lots of other conmen.

that is your opinion. You are entitled to it.

5/ I read that in a metaphorical sense

6/ that is your opinion. You are entitled to it.

1/ Just a longer winded way of saying bullshit!

2/ Do you believe what is written in the Bible?

3/ The animals that are unclean to eat, were handed down by GOD this infallible being.
The question is one I have wanted answering for years, just thought you could help me out. After all he made everything how come he can't remember how many legs insects have?

4/ Fair do's.

5/ Lovely word metaphorical, a handy get out for twisting statements to suit oneself.

6/ An opinion based on historical facts.

!Hello Jersey mate. <ok>

1/ So how come the Gospels contradict each other?
And what about those women eh! Lets keep them where they belong uneducated servants to men.

2/ The unclean animals believers are not supposed to eat, apart from the aforementioned none existent 4 legged insect. There's that famous BIRD someone already mentioned a BAT!

3/ Pretty sure the basis of Christianity and most other religions, if you don't believe you don't get to Heaven.

Hitlers in I'm out. <ok>

4/ So, you are moving the goalposts to suit your beliefs and not accepting the word handed down from God. If it is our minds, the guy has a very twisted mind.
But no surprise there, as the people he liked were allowed to kill and sin as long as they repented, the ones he didn't like he killed anyway. WTG big guy.

1/ Just a longer winded way of saying bullshit!

Not really. Bullshit would denote that none of it is true.

2/ Do you believe what is written in the Bible?

Not being evasive but this question is about a collection of works from a collection of authors over a loooooong time. Are you asking if I believe in the literal truth of biblical parables or the historical truths within it, or the divinity of Jesus. Its a pretty loaded question?

Ok, good question. I don't know. i will research it.

5/ Lovely word metaphorical, a handy get out for twisting statements to suit oneself.

Not really. if you read it as as an explanatory story or a metaphor. Its perfectly reasonable.

6/ An opinion based on historical facts.

Yep. an opinion based on historical fact....and so are mine.

Hi MR :)

1. Show me an example of where one gospel contradicts another. As for women, Jesus went against the grain in accepting women as equals; the Virgin Mary is one of the most important figures in Catholicism (behind God and Jesus), and it was three women who were first told of Jesus' resurrection.

2. That's OT, most of which is disregarded by modern Christianity, such as Creationism, to get back on topic!

3. Yes, but the official line is that you don't get to heaven. It's impossible to know, but how can you go to a place you don't think exists? I'm not really a specialist in his area tho... :)

4. By our minds, I meant our ability to think rationally. A famous philosopher (I don't know which one!) said that simply the ability to think about a God was evidence enough for one. And by the repenting thing, it only works if you're actually sorry you did those things, not just for the punishment but because they are bad.

Evasion or answering a question with a question not bad. <ok>

Please point me to the facts proving Jesus was the Son of God?
