Did anyone see it last night...shocking! If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend you do on BBC i-player. 2000 strong sections of Polish and Ukrainian fans doing the Hitler salute shouting Zeig Heil. Official Ukranian football representative, "no, thats not a racist salute, they're just pointing at the other set of fans"! seriously!!! He actually stood with the Panorama presenter with the video's and said that on camera!...thats what we're up against. These same fans were then recorded kicking a handful OF THEIR OWN fans who were Asian out of the ground, only when the thugs stopped punching and kicking them did stewards and Police step in, and that was just to pick the victims up off the floor and escort them out. Just finished watching it myself. It's an absolute disgrace that they were both chosen to host the tournament, to gloss over and ignore the problems there is defending it, there's no two ways about it.
I think that's a pretty poor comment to be honest, given the context of this thread is trying to highlight the prejudice in football and that some spurs fans were arrested for chanting racist and homophobic abuse at Sol Campbell.
Good grief Diskie, you had to stretch that some way to accuse us of being racist. No one likes racism on here, but he is still a hate figure to us, and stumbling across his bloated figure could be a shock to some.
The England team, given it's over-reliance on Klan members and John "burn that cross" Terry should feel at home, at the Euros. If things were really that bad, wouldn't the black players in all of these teams refuse to take part? Money is always more important than principal.

You know what? I didn't even consider the colour of his skin while posting. The politician couldn't even look at the camera or reporter during that interview. It was painful viewing. This summer's competitions will be farcical.
I've just watched it, horrifying. My wife who is black was shocked, she had never seen anything like that. She was so shocked she is watching it again as she had difficulty believing it. Let's hope the referees have the balls to abandon any matches with that sort of behavior and the police protect all travelling supporters. Like him or not, you have to agree with Judas's comments, UEFA are wrong to play the tournament in there.
The Qatar tournament has similar, if less open, problems for gay fans. Blatter's response? Refrain from sexual activity. Qatar was one of 79 countries to sanction executing gays at the United Nations. Kick racism and homophobia out of football, but not if someone's offered certain voters incentives.

its a strange statement as i in England would not want to witness homosexual behaviour in front of me..so if they get it on in their hotel room in Qatar,then who will know? i just see all this stuff as sly little ways to actually highlight the issues and further isolate certain nations. Homophobia is not only present in 'muslim' countries, as is the underlying message here with this Qatar world cup drama. we as individuals in this very cosmopolitan society have our negative views against it too...but that is a whole new debate..for a whole new day..id rather stick to putting Piskie in his place.
What's to stop someone of Asian descent being Ukrainian? Anyway, why shouldn't they? If you like football you go to see football matches.
nothing wrong with it at all..i kind of said it in jest..we are all free to support who we want..or at least thats what everyone but the Ukranians think.. plus i think Polish birds are hot.
