Why's he talking to them then? Something out of the ordinary's going on and that's been apparent for a few days.

Yes and no, they probably want to gather some momentum and support from the fans and for any targets we are going after. If this goes tits up because Bates gets greedy or puts some **** in the way then also FAILS to back Warnock can you imagine the **** hitting the fan towards him once fans around the country KNOW we have had interest... I say they probably need to put some stuff out but agree not too much...

It doesn't matter, if he only wants investment now he'll only want investment when we get there too.

I wouldn't trust bates with millions of pounds. If it's only investment it's likely to fall through as the investors won't want to give their money to bates.

I have a very strong feeling that the reason this has gotten to an advanced stage is that LUST have put pressure on the club. LUST have made their own confirmation of funds using the proper legal channels, so bates no longer has his go to excuse that they couldn't show him the money. It's a case of sell up or be shown up for a fraud.

If I was a Leeds fan, what would worry me is the fact the fans, supporters trust and apparently the prospective 'owners' are saying they hope the club gets bought, yet the people that matter i.e the club, are saying they are in discussions about investment.

The club are never going to come out using the word "takeover". "Long term investment" is simply the term being used by the club before anything becomes official.

I'm getting rather excited by all this. We need every little bit of help we can muster. Would say some prayers, but don'' know how. Does anyone have an instruction manual on how to do it? And can I use my doormat as a prayer mat?

It worried me that the term used was investment but I am pretty sure it was a figure of speech. At the end of the day would you invest in ANYTHING owned by Bates?

Happy to oblige. "Prayer" is the act of sending me large denomination Sterling bank notes to a PO box in Monaco. I reckon 400,000 "Hail James Watt"s ought to just about do it.

What I'm looking forward to seeing is when and if the people that takeover do their due diligence on your books<laugh>

Bates will be sweating like a hungry diabetic in a chocolate factory!:D

I would suggest some people chill for a period, there is a huge difference between "takeover" and "investment" and as it is the later that has been stated, then Bates would still be involved with the club.
If you want Bates out, then investment is not what you want. If you want cash at the club, but Bates to remain, then investment is what you are looking for.

The due diligence will merely lead to an understanding of whetehr they should be involved at all and how much they should bid. This is the first time we know about anyone actually getting to this stage with bates at the helm, and this stage is very very far down the track

It also indicates a willingness from Bates to sell, and a buyer who has the quality and funding to take the club forward

Carra seems to be one of those fans bricking themselves at the possibility - and it is only that at the moment - that LUFC could be lucky enough to get a new and wealthy and ambitious owner

I simply can't see Bates accepting any form of investment that doesn't allow him to be in charge. We all know (don't have physical evidence) that it is Bates and his business colleagues that own Elland Road, so any investment to the club would surely have to mean him relinquishing the ownership of the stadium. At this stage, I can't see Bates letting the land go, unless a ridiculous amount of money was offered to him and his partners. Bates still own the majority of the top floor at Chelsea Village, hence the club can't force a sale and knock the waste of money down. Bates is a clever man, he will not allow anything to stop his plans.

Why on earth would I be 'bricking' it? You may well get rid of Bates and end up with wealthy owners. Leicester and Cardiff are doing well, aren't they?

We're rolling along nicely, thank you very much.<ok>

Thou doth protesteth too much, Carra.

As usual this is where all the entertainment and excitement is. I understand why you are here instead of talking with yourself on the Norwich bored (sic!). <ok>

Keep it down though, eh? We're trying to be low key here <whistle>

To be honest, Norwich are at their maximum level, with investment unlikely due to the size of the club and it's history. Leeds United are a very special club and most investors would be keen to be involved in the club, as a development opportunity. The problem has always been Bates and his partners, they are simply not "normal" business people and they have a terrible habit of making you feel like "scum" for daring to be in the same room as them. Can you remember the Midlands character that Harry Enfield used to have, who's catchphrase was "considerably richer than you", well the manner and the tone of that character is not too far away from the reality of trying to do business with Bates and his partners, they are one big massive ego and play it their way. If the "takeover" does go ahead and Bates leaves Leeds United FC, then there is a chance that the club will move forward. There is a big club in Leeds and it can be moved back to the top 7 in England, with regular European football, it will take time and money, something Bates doesn't have.

I'm fed up with being so positive all the time on the Norwich board, so I thought I'd pop over and see what's happening in Yorkshire as I could guarantee that even in times of positivity, you lot will see the negative in everything.<ok>
