They reported it as breaking news just before the bulletin finished. With the way we usually do our business, it will no doubt just appear on our website. I really hope this is the start of something, and that the Bates Empire is finally crumbling. MOT
We can only hope if there is a takeover, that it happens soon enough to maybe hold onto whyte McCormack and Snoddy, maybe even Clayton. It'll be **** all use if it drags on till say September. All fingers and toes crossed here in sunny Eire at t,he moment
Its sunny ! at this time of night !, thats amazing lol, if I cross anything else my blood supply will be cut off !!
Hang on. don't mean to burst the bubble, but this was new to me & is more than a little worrying .... BBC LKO Yorks&Lincs ‏@BBCLKOYL LKO believes that KB turned down £40M offer from Freddie Shepherd 2 years ago for #lufc as he wanted closer to £90M. Has anything changed?
Yeah there has been changes. Higher league, ground improvements etc. Price may well have increased...
I'm currently holding back from thinking too much about this. Its now more than just a rumour but I'm still not getting off my seat. If a takeover did happen then how do we know what the new owner/s would be like, god forbid they could be considerably worse (and believe me it is possible)
Just got a text from my journo mate who has heard that Ken Bates is mulling over an offer from Sam Hamman - only sticking point at the moment is the ground ownership!!
Like it, TC. Thing is, he was at the other end of the spending spectrum from bates. We've had both extremes. Surely it's our turn to get a good 'un?
Clubs in the **** financially and hasn't just been promoted. He's ****ed us over a lot since then and value of the club has plummeted.
Stop with this bullshit defeatist attitude. THIS is what real negativity is. Expecting what you've seen in the past being reserved. Pointing out pointless negative thoughts like "well they could be worse than bates oh no :'(" is just pointless negativity. Because bates is a terrible businessman who has somehow put us into debt while improving absolutely **** all about Leeds United, anybody is better. He is literally the worst we could get.
I think for once I'm more of a pessimist than you, Marko. I fail to see the club being worth anything - then or now. The 2 greatest asset groups a club has are its players & its premises. We don't have any premises & are locked into bastard long term contracts to use ER & TA. As for the players, net worth of what, £5-6m now, & possibly the same 2 years ago? And I think I'm being generous with that valuation. £90m for £6m of assets & a premises millstone round your neck? Even £10m would be exorbitant.
They finished second and will finish in the top two next season, and the season after that, and the season after that, regardless of the financial wranglings that are going on at the moment. Nearly anyone will be better than Bates. Even Craig bloody Whyte, not that I remotely want him or anyone like him.
For someone who is such a bad businessman, he seems to have had a decent career in it. Bates seriously is not as bad as what you think. While it is unlikely to get another chairman that wants to keep the budget tight for the playing staff its not out of the question. You need to be cautious with things like this, the 'anybody is better' line can really **** you up Yea but I think that says more about how **** the SPL is than what Whyte is like as an owner of a club
