Jack Butland

Has Carson ruled himself out or something?
Surely Butland, who sounds like a gay theme park, would be better off in the Olympic squad?

Does it matter if he gets called up? He's only 3rd choice, there is no way he's actually going to play, so it doesn't really matter.

Doesn't make any difference who the 3rd choice goalie is, he's not going to play, and if Hart got injured then England might as well take the next flight back home.

Funny when you think of it though, Spain can choose between Manchester United's #1 and Barcelona's #1 for their #3, while England call up a kid who's only played a handful of games for Cheltenham <laugh>

Joe Hart has that shirt nailed for at least 10 years at this rate. No other English keeper has a chance, in the same way that Buffon had the Italian shirt nailed, and Casillas has the Spanish shirt

Dave Watson, England and Birmingham goalkeeper coach, who has worked extensively with both, thinks Butland will be better, as does Hart himself.

And several people have said that Butland is better than Hart was at that age.

How many times are players rated, by other players as being better, and it never happens? Butland has played 24 senior games, in over 2 years. Joe Hart had just signed for City at this point in his career

What an absolute joke.

This is not the time to give players "with great potential" a call-up, this is the european championships we are talking about, someone send baliffs round to Foster's house and force him out of international retirement.

There are many more deserving GKs, for example Carson, yes he may play in the mickey mouse league in turkey, but at least it is the top level, not the 4th division!!!

Oh and while we are on it, wtf @ Martin Kelly, call-up Micah Richards, you moron Woy! He is world class!

And if Green or Hart get injured? We have 2 weeks left until the start, and as evidenced training accidents do occur!

And if one gets sent off?

I saw a funny video a while back of Rooney in goal, he was surprisingly good, gets my nod for 3rd choice! Unfortunately he seems the only one in the squad who looks capable of scoring a goal...

Oh yawn here we go with the " omg he shouldn't even be in the squad because he's not in a prem team"

This is a fine time to call up youngsters. As stated, he most likely won't play and if he does he will most likely demonstrate the ability and confidence that has led him to be so highly rated.

Heads out of arses time, the lad is a future no.1 and has had a great season in Cheltenham's promotion winning side. Rob Green is in the squad because of his International experience, yet he wasn't the best keeper in the Championship last season. Not saying he shouldn't go, just thought I'd point that out.

Didn't Cheltenham lose the final?

Yes, I look a bit of a knob, I was mixing them up with Shrewsbury - Joe Hart's old team! Butland has had a pretty good season though.

On the subject of L2, sounds like that Nick Powell lad at Crewe has a bit of class. Man U interested apparently.

Yeh his goal in the final was fantastic! As for Butland, it is a joke that he has been included, good for the experience but poor that the amount of promising keepers in the championship and premiership would rather be sat on a beach somewhere!

Which promising keepers are these?
