When he tried to buy Ayr United they obviously did background checks on him and realised he was broke and said no thanks. They found out that Murray Metals was £250 Million in debt. Murray then blackmailed the bank into giving him the money to buy Rangers. He told them he would fold Murray Metals if they never loaned him the money. He obviously had the banks over a barrel all throughout the 90s using this tactic. Cool story bro
**** him. "I was duped". Bollox. The Bank told him to sell, he knew what was happening alright. Really couldn't give a **** now, close the doors and get the newco going. Not one person should ever get control of the club again, sadly that means Mingwall and co getting on the board, but hopefully some sensible Rangers fans (Trev) can get on the board too.
Start a newco and by pass the admin, just start a brand new club and rent a park somewhere. Let it be known that fans won't recognise any new club created by the admins. Enough fans buy into it and you'll get the third division spot no longer assosiated with the toxic old club as the fans regected it. Rangers saved and clean as a whistle. The wheels should have been put in motion ages ago for this but too many heads buried in sand.
That would surely be the obvious route to take. I didn't see the thing last night and don't hear the rumours back home, is it looking like a newco is the only way out?
All the Gers fans I have spoken to have said as much Gambol. It's the spineless money orientated chairmen of the non old firm clubs which will prevent it from happening. Many of us are are at the point where if this does happen we'll be telling our clubs to go **** themselves.
It's not that you should be trying to avoid a newco - although I can understand why you would want to - it's just the most practical option available to you. I agree, David Murray has ****ed youse right up and after last night's show it has been going on a lot longer than anyone thought - Craig Whyte is just a distraction - but HMRC has already said if they lose the big tax case they will appeal it so there will be so much financial uncertainty for years to come. Then there is the dual contracts investigation that means you will most likely be stripped of your most recent achievements (if it goes against you and all indications are representative of a negative verdict). Your one chance to put all this to bed is to start afresh with a newco although I know it's not what you want to hear
Why don't you think the CVA is achievable? I'm with monaco on this one. I don't understand people's desperation to play in div 3.
Rangers only real way out of admin is newco. Arguments going on about keeping that newco in the SPL but with sanctions (rumours of 10-15 point deduction and seizure of up to 75% of the clubs revenue - possibly for more than one season). Add to that the transfer embargo. Personally, I'd rather see us compete in the 3rd than be completely uncompetative in the Premier (and possibly relegated anyways). Spend 3-4 seasons rebuilding back to the top of the SPL.
