The Scottish Premier League have postponed Wednesday's Old Firm derby as a mark of respect following the death of Motherwell skipper Phil O'Donnell.

Celtic on Monday made a formal request to the SPL for the game to be called off as their squad struggle to cope with the death of their former player, and Rangers boss Walter Smith backed a postponement so the SPL moved quickly to meet the request.

SPL secretary Iain Blair said: "These are never easy decisions. But we recognise that as a former player, Phil was part of Celtic's extended football family. After consultation with Rangers we agreed to postpone the Old Firm fixture on the second of January."

The SPL postponed it, Celtic requested it.

Rangers requested the Gretna game be postponed, the SPL postponed it.

There were physically no games which could be postponed for Burns

There seems to be some confusion again. Some Bears (not all though) seem to think the important thing is the EBTs and whether or not they were legal/allowed.There seems to be a belief that if Rangers win their appeal against the FTTT then everything will be rosy in the garden.

The EBT case is a side issue and has been since the Double Contracts (or Side Letters) were exposed.
Maybe these "Side Letters" don't exist but I find it very hard to believe that the BBC would specifically mention that "53 Rangers Players" had dual contracts without at least some hard evidence to back this up.

If it is true (and I have read nothing in the last few months which leads me to think it is all made up) then Rangers will have honours stripped from them. The SPL and SFA will have no choice and all the sympathetic pleading in the world will not change that fact.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Rangers players, included McCoist, Durie and Goram, got a Scotland World Cup match postponed because some bimbo slut of a Princess died in a car crash so I dunno what you ****s are moping about.

That's a fair assessment. It is indeed the double contracts that is the issue. As I understand it such an arrangement is against association rules. Therefore, if the SPL investigation finds Rangers guilty, that is a clear breach of rules and cannot be called anything other than cheating. What a ****storm that will be.

HMRC's fiscal interest in the EBT's is another issue all together.

It made me realise that we are finished and that Murray is behind it all. What a slimey **** he is. Never once paid for a player from his own pocket.

What about Duff and Phelps? I knew they were in on it right from the start. Disgusting bastards. Hope they all die.

Whyte? Prince of Monaco? He managed to dupe David Murray with a whopper like that? Do me a favour.

Open your eyes people, we are finished

ONE BIG SORRY MESS.

That's the spirit.
