just thought i'd post this as it might be obvious that Adkins is in the market for a Goalkeeper, but the goalkeeper we were linked with in january/ last summer time, Robin Ruiter from Volendam has gone to FC Utrecht, so won't be coming to us.
Nike saw a talented (read: flashy) 15 year old with an easy to spell name and hyped the hell out of him. Turns out he just isn't very good.

He had all the skills and flair to look impressive but just lacks basic important skills, no football brain, poor touch etc.
The thing he had about him back then was a massive physical advantage. He was a fully-grown man at 14 playing against boys - which is why he seemed (literally) head and shoulders above everyone else of his age.
Now that he doesn't have any sort of physical advantage he's been exposed as the very average player that he is. He also stopped growing at 14, which has led to a few rumours about him actually being older than his officially-stated age..

Thing is when he was 15 he was further along physically than his opponents and he was subsequently moved into the first team where Nike got hold of Jon and hyped him up. However when he starter playing regularly he was then showed to be ........ Well not very good. This prompted question marks over his actual age as his birth certificate was never confirmed or whatever and then as you say he slipped out of the limelight.

Remember age disputes happening with Obafemi Martins as well, explains why his career died so suddenly. Does seem to be an African player thing, there is literally no way Kanu is only 35.

Well he only received the ban a game or so ago, Granada behaved shockingly, I cannot see who would want to be a ref! I cannot see someone with that temperament coming to us, unless Adkins thinks he can turn him...
With much talk of right backs on this here thread, I put forward Danny Simpson as a new possibility. No source except my own. Cheers.
