Is it just me or is 2010 a LOT better than 2011? I've only played it for about 5 races but it just feels ****e compared with the old one.

I think F1 2011 is better in some aspects of gameplay, but I used to dominate F1 2010 so I can't really complain.

Codemasters have really made it more variable in terms of car control, the setups have to be really fine tuned relative to what you desire and the track you are driving on, unlike F1 2010 easy engineer pre-setups.
They have fallen on the penalty aspect of the game.. BADLY, as well as the AI drivers, which cause me to turn the thing off after a while.
Damage simulation is basically the same as F1 2010.
The main menu is no different from F1 2010, nothing special.

Multiplayer (Offline) is a bit scratchy in terms of graphics and smoothness.

    I hope F1 2012 is a step up, because F1 2011 was a real let-down.

Really? I thought 2011 was much better. It is more realistic with the cars performances where as in 2010 you could easily win a race in a HRT. 2011 does have a few things it can improve on though like the safety car mode =(

I think I need to change a lot of the options on mine, I've not even bothered to put damage simulation on yet or tyre wear. I thought 2010 was much more of a challenge but it's early days I suppose. currently bossing it in the force india which is boring as ****. going to set it up properly tonight. Turn 8 in Turkey is a let down, used to be quite tricky to get it perfect, piece of piss on 2011.

Never played 2011, was gonna wait until 2012 came out and just upgrade from 2010 then. As with Manny the penalties really piss me off, if someone spins right in front of you you either get done for not being able to avoid them or get done for an illegal overtake if you do with 0 chance of giving back he lead, and there are the 'brake testers'. The AI is too easy on 2010 (except for Catalunya) and agree with Bando on the cars, although winning with a broken controller in a 2010 HRT at spa by 30 secs against a bunch of 'pros' felt sweet

used to really piss me off when you pitted in 2010 and got held up by traffic and lost about 10 seconds. Not happend to me yet in 2011. ****ing better not either

I won my first race in an HRT on the 2011 version at barcelona after some doughnut smashed into another doughnut on the last chicane and I went from 10th to 1st in front of the teams home crowd... I felt like a legend in my living room that day......

Had 2010, loved it.. traded it in for 2011 (assuming it was better), I didn't like it, fine tuned the car to Nth degree and couldn't get decent performance from the Force India.. Sold it, may get a second hand copy of 2010 to tie me over until they release 2012.

A lot of the people I race on 2010 had 2011 but prefer 2010, I don't bother racing offline, it's just too easy, especially in the wet (as long as you have a high ride height), even with penalties and most mods off (hard to drive with a controller and traction controll off).

Anyway, favourite tracks? I love Hungary, Spa and Valencia, and dislike immensly Catalunya (I have to crawl through the last chicane or spin) and Marina Bay (although I'm in top 1000 on TT there somehow, even though I didn't think it was such a good lap)

I know, that surprised me too, quite enjoyable to drive! Other favs. are Canada, Spa and Suzuka (esp. the S's) is very rewarding, can only imagine how rewarding it would be to do that in real life!
I want to like Monaco, but the version of 2010 I had seemed to "glitch" at the second swimming pool chicane, refresh rate would really slow down from there until the tabac, put me right off!
So I'm not the only one that had issues with the final chicane, such a c**p little section that, wish they'd go back to the original layout for the final sector!

2011 has kept me interested longer than 2010, but strangely enough I can't say why. I finished my first season with Force India with braking assist and traction/stability control on just to get used to the controls. Now I'm in a McLaren for my second season and have the brake assist off. Hopefully I'll get to the point of no assists and I can begin upping the driver AI of competitors.

    Both good games though.

The tyres in 2011 are better then the 2010 version. Tyre degradation is better and more challenging.

yeah they got tyre degradation pretty much spot on for 2011. I had an amazing race at Hungary in Career mode, on half distance. Because they ran the super soft and soft there i was struggling a bit with tyre were, and ended up having to using a Q3 set of super softs in the race. For 2 laps I had to coast round to be able to make it to the end of the race, in the end I finished 2nd to Heidfield.

I like the 2011 game more, they patched up the wall glitches, DRS, KERS and the safety car worked well, and it seemed more realistic. I think that with the 2010 game, they tried to make a base to work on for future years. They have the series until 2013 or 2014 i think, so with each game getting better and better, the last one they are due to do should be so good that they get the rights for another few years.

Codemasters are definitely the best at making racing games

M advice would be to stick with it and try and find a difficulty that works. I hated it at first and it took me most of my first career season to adjust.

I am suprised you're finding it easier though. I was bossing 2010 with everything off bar auto gears and the hardest AI, but had to turn them down a notch to cope with 2011. Are you sure all the settings are the same as you had them on the last game?

To finish with a more general rant. I finish about half my online races with a corner cutting penalty, to the extent i've given up. With no practice laps at all and having to go as quick as i can immediately i wish it would be a bit more forgiving.

I think 2011 is miles better than 2010, there is only one thing i want changing.. The manual gear fuel bug......... It's like CM dont want people to get better and to stick to all assists forever.

No I said I've barely touched my settings that's why it's so easy. lose a front wing and nothing happens <laugh>

I'm going to get this season out the way then change them to the hardest. I never touch the car set-up though. not got the patience for that carry on.

Lol, still have F1 2009 as my most recent F1 game and I still love it! It's not so much the reality of the gameplay I enjoy, as it is the feel of the wireless F1 wheel that comes with it. There's something very satisfying about it.
