after his laughable blunder with his squad selection for the euros - Downing and Carrol picked while Carrick ( the most consistent and best passing english midfielder this season ) being left out , how many people think that this muppet of a manager will last beyond the tournament especially should England be knocked out in the group stage?
Not unless he lost every game 5-0 and even then he might get given more time by the FA. He was chosen because he's the cheap, safe choice they're not gonna waste money sacking him 2 months into a 4 year deal. He's a good manager though and with little pressure on him or the players going into the tournament I can see them doing quite well, maybe getting us to the quarters which is our usual spot to mess up.
Nah, no way the FA would remove him so early. I'm sure he's got an excuse prepared, but I can't see us finishing last. Yes we think there are problems but certainly strong enough to beat ukraine and probably Sweden too. No hope against France, they've got a good shot at the semi's
Jarvis has had more crosses, shots and goals this season than Downing and has had the disadvantage of being in a team that has played awful this season and been relegated. Not saying Jarvis should have been there or anything but its another name.
I wouldn't actually mind swapping Jarvis for Downing. But it wouldn't happen the way things go. At least Downing has more international experience if you want to see the positives.
His squad selection was ****, his tactics will be ****. Still, better than ****ing 'Arry. We should have got AVB.
Too young, plus the FA wanted an englishman. Whilst he learnt his trade from an english master (Sir Bobby), he wasn't born in the UK.
If the FA had any braincells, they would have hired the best man for the job, irrespective of nationality. Even someone like Slaven Bilic would have been a decent bet.
In tournaments, you stick with the players that got you qualified, it's only fair. During 10/11, Downing had a very good season for Villa and that persuaded Capello to bring him in. On the basis that he helped us qualify, I don't begrudge him his place. You can't blame Capello for not anticipating Downing's poor season and it's only right that Roy does right by Capello's team until after the tournament when he is free to make his own decisions. Carroll is only 23 and like it or not, he'll be a central figure for the next 4 or 5 major tournaments. He might not have had a great season, but he is undeniably a good player who will be with us for some time. Grant Holt has had a great season, but he's 31 so won't be around much longer in international tournament terms. If Roy thinks he'll be a Teddy Sheringham and carry on forever, then let him show it after the tournament. We must remember that Capello got us qualified and a complete overhaul of his team immediately before the Euros would be disasterous. The only real surprise inclusion for me is Alex Chamberlain. That's a good gamble for me though as the kid has a spark of explosiveness and flair that many England players lack. Coupled with his determination and youthful exhuberance, I do think he could be a breath of fresh air and possibly even a difference maker.
Roy has got no pressure on him. He won't take the rap if we get beat and at the same time can take the credit if things do go our way.
It's premature to say Roy will not be England manager after the Euros (even if England get thrashed in all the games in the group stages, FA will still stand by him)
