Whilst listening to 5 live for blackpools coverage they said we are close to signing roger johnson. Any one else here this? im unsure wether this would be good or bad. I rated him highly untill his time with wolves. was shocking last year! any thoughts?
Who said and what did they say exactly? My guess is they are responding to the rumours. If it is true, then I wouldn't be adversed to it, as long as he's not earning anywhere near the reported 40k a week he is on at Wolves.
Saw this on Newsnow the other day - albeit written from the viewpoint of a Wolves fan, but it confirms what many of us already feared. http://www.wolves.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=282684
No! This guy's absolutely toxic I fear he'll rot the team from the inside. As much as I trust Lambert, Johnson's bad news and he looks like a smackhead too.
If 17 goal Holt is handing in transfer requests to get closer to £20k, I can't see that we'd start paying a disruptive influence who fights with colleagues and turns up to training pissed £40k !!
He's a good player in the wrong place at the wrong time. Was outstanding at Birmingham and I don't think he's turned into a bad player in one season. If Lambo is happy with his attitude then who am I to question.
I would be happy with Jarvis, don't know @ Fletcher (is he a striker?) Johnson according to Wolves fans was not exactly the model professional, and as our team isn't full of ego's, that is the last thing we need at Norwich.
Lambo could motivate him I reckon Is he out of contract, as the TFr window is shut? Or is a fee agreed job and sign in July if true
All the worrying stuff in that article (bust-ups wiv teammates/ hangover/ winding up his own fans) happened AFTER McArthy left and I don't remember any concerns about his attitude when he was at Birmingham. I think the fact that Johnson behaved like that (and went unpunished) says as much about O'Connor's man management as it does about Johnson. With a decent attitude he could be one hell of a signing. Wasn't Wenger linked with him last summer?
Here's Roger Johnson's wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Johnson_(footballer) A lot of good things in that CV. In fact, all looks good up to the point where he joined Wolves and was made captain by MM in place of Karl Henry. Maybe that didn't endear him to the dressing room, who knows. I do wish people wouldn't jump to negative conclusions on little more than gossip and hearsay. If City are indeed interested, you can bet a lot of homework has gone into it.
