Don't be so quick to disregard Fats; you disagreed with my suggestion of a 6 month loan for Jason Roberts back before Reading took him and he didn't turn out too bad a signing for them did he?!

Saints didn't need Roberts, they got Sharp and Tadanari Lee on permanent deals. Both are much younger than Roberts and are owned by Saints rather on loan like Roberts was at Reading.

McFadden has never been the same player, or consistently fit since he destroyed his knee at Birmingham, if he ever plays more than 20 games a season again I'll be stunned.

Different scenario. We didn't need Roberts after the other signings (though he was excellent for Reading, agreed). McFadden is a bit of a rotten egg and I can't see him fitting the personality type at Saints. Not a question of ability, he has loads, just don't see him as anywhere near the type of personality to fit what Nigel is creating.

Only thing I can think of against him is he's too often injured to justify a large wage. Very good keeper though.

Absolutely no substance to that article whatsoever! Not even the vague 'a source said' just the even vaguer 'it is understood', and the headline ends with a question mark <doh>

I'd love him to join us but that is pure speculation.

Indeed, they just re-hashed this article from Sky Sports earlier today:

Is it just me that sees these as attempts by Hooper's agent to get a better deal? Hooper's already stated he wants to stay with Celtic and have a crack at CL football - I can't envisage him coming here, not just yet anyway.

Just noticed that Fabianski has told Arsenal that he wants to leave as he wants first team football... Providing his wages weren't too high, do you think he could be a good signing for us?

Tbf, Fabianski has shown some quality moments, and was Poland Number 1 until Sczcesney came along. Could do better, could do a lot worse.
