On the Grant Holt front I can confirm that it is not because there is an approach from another club. Make of that what you will. #NCFC

hmm, this sounds an awful lot like i was right about his agent trying to rattle the club into giving him more money. whether the club will be rattled enough to do it is one thing but by rattling us fans it's certainly kicked up a storm. i wonder how many were worrying that we'd be starting next season with out one of our prize possessions - i bet very few felt it would be holty on his way! however, i will stand by my first instinct - both lambert and holt will still be at norwich come august <ok>

Yes.Give it to him.You won't buy as effective centre forward for less than ten million. My guess is the "cost per goal" report has something to do with it.

I asked my friend Danny Kedwell, who plays for Gillingham and he said normally it is the agent who approaches the club with the transfer request but he has to discuss it with the player first, he cannot put a transfer request in without the player saying so, however sometimes the player puts it in himself.

Cheers for that mate! <cheers> Unlikely to happen but I guess that does give the opportunity for wires to get crossed and the wrong message given to the club. Unlikely but interesting that thats the case, you would of thought with something so important the player should be there

Doubt it mate, he pulled out of McVeigh's chat show and has said nothing on Twitter, if it were a mistake they club and Holt would have made a statement.

Agree, gut feeling is after a crazy start to the summer things will settle down, normal service resumed and both will remain here.

Yeah you would have thought so but Danny informed me that the agent can do it without the player present and it has been known that some greedy agents have gone and put in a request without the player authorising it because they want the player to move so they get more money each week and also the money for negotiating the move.

Am I missing something here. We have been bigging Holt up for so long, he gets to the Prem and has a brilliant debut season,we want to see him picked for the Euros and he himself states he should be picked and we are surprised about this news?
Second leading English goalscorer who isn't going to be tired or injured after the Euros and at 31 is still young and could play in the Prem for the length of a 3 year contract is going to be tapped up.
Forget all talk of loyalty etc. Its a profession and if he thinks a better job is around d the corner, who can blame him.
Don't start slagging him off if, in his opinion, he can better himself.

I'm not saying that happened, it almost certainly didn't was just interested at how these things work.

He probably does deserve a new contract with more money and a nice set of performance related bonuses. he should be at the top of our wage cap if that is going to be say £25k give him that with say £250 at the end of each season he score more than 10 goals.

I blame Roy Hodgson...just kidding I don't really think this is about the England squad. But i'll blame Roy anyway. GRRRR I just want the facts !

We've obviously been employing him at less than the going rate for the job he does. Many may regard these wages as obscene but that's what others are paying. And the club says it's virtually debt free so Holt may feel that he has helped achieve that, and with some justification. We need to offer him what others will pay if we want him to stay.

The more I think about it, it has got to be money. He's 31, he's never earned the big bucks in football, this is his last chance. He has to think about his retirement and looking after his rather expanding family. To be fair, he deserves a lot more money. Other than Lambert, no one has played a bigger role in our recent success than Holt.
