Paul Lambert must be off to either Villa or Liverpool and Holt wants to follow

It's the only logical way or seeing it. Very strange

He's led us through 2 divisions and kept us up this year even if he does leave i will always love him! Shame he could have been a club legend

Well did not see that coming. Will be interesting to see why this has happened.
1. A "big" club came in for him
2. Lamberts off
3. He is asking for more money
4. He is unhappy at Zak and Alby not being offered new contracts

My guess is either he's asked for more money and the club have said no, or it's a top eight club sniffing around. I don't buy the Lambo link up.

big mistake grant, big mistake.

you can't recover from this. you can't just hand in a transfer request like that. no point the club turning it down!

he's obviously had his head turned by a bigger club, maybe one playing in europe next season, so sell him for as much as we can get and we'll wish him all the best. he'll only realise what he's done once he's left and that's a shame but nobody, i repeat nobody, is bigger than the club.

What's the matter with him!? I though Lambert would stay, now with this, maybe a massive sign he isn't. We have treated him and Lambert like gods, we deserve a little bit more than a sudden bolt from the blue like that! That's come out of nowhere!

Its all going a bit tits up, manager probably leaving, top scorer wants to go too.

Ironic considering all the gloating canaries fans have been doing on our board.

I agree it would be a huge mistake. But I will reserve judgement until I hear his reasoning.

Hornet in what I hope will be seen as peace.

England has surely gone, so this can only be about money in my opinion. He has never signed a contract with a Premier League club. You were a Championship club when he renewed, at which point he probably felt what you were offering (bottom end Premier League money, which is precisely what he was worth) was the best he was ever going to get. This is his first/last/only realistic opportunity to get a multi-year, big money Premier League contract.

I'm not defending him if this is only about money, because it's never, ever right to demand a move. But this is more understandable than most transfer requests.

If it's a bigger club, I wouldn't blame him for wanting to take that chance. He's at an age where that chance wouldn't come again, and he's given us magnificent service.
Let's just wait and see though.

agree. i was shocked when i posted that but i'm sure it must be true. i just can't imagine its about money because he was our highest paid player and still has two years on his deal. someone posted on twitter earlier that everton we're about to sign grant holt - i ignored it as total garbage... now i'm wondering if it was true!
