Cemetary Junction tanked, Ghost Town and The Invention of Lying failed to make a profit (in order to make a profit, a film needs to make back its budget + 50% to cover promotion etc, neither of these did so), which indicates Ricky Gervais is not a star who can make money...yet he gets work regardless. Then again, the last 20+ years have shown that, by and large, SNL alumni are like anthrax at the box office, but that doesn't stop them getting work. And, let's be honest, if Tim Burton wasn't working with a known IP, his films would tank time after time, and Johnny Depp would suddenly stop answering his calls when that happens.
