So, the football oasis in the desert that is the summer will soon be upon us, and I wonder who we think will be sent to the good old USSR this Wednesday My squad for Poland & the Ukraine Joe Hart, Scott Carson, Robert Green Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Glen Johnson, Gary Cahill, Leighton Baines, Micah Richards, John Terry, Phil Jagielka, Scott Parker, Gareth Barry, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Ashley Young, Theo Walcott, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll, Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge Standby we have Johnson, Lescott, Stockdale, Caulker, Scholes, Owen, Bent, Lennon, Wright-Phillips etcetcetc My side to start against France (in a perfect world) ----------------------Hart Johnson------Ferdinand------Cahill------Cole --------Milner------Parker--------Gerrard ---- -------Walcott----------Young ---------------------Carroll We have Lamps and Welbeck etc to bring on 2nd half (maybe go 442 if we are chasing the game) Also, how do you think we will do this summer, without Wilshere and Cleverley
andy carroll...? rather have grant holt or peter crouch.. why no terry? he's the best defender we have.. yes he's a prize cock, but doesn't take away the fact he gives everything for club and country..
I just felt he was vulnerable, maybe more so than the two I put in. Truth is Hodge will probably play Ferdinand and Terry, but I'm not sure we would be more secure with the old boys when we have a Jags and Cahill option
My Team would be when the full team is available Hart Walker Lescott Terry Cole Gerrard Parker OX Walcott Young Rooney
Dont rate Milner.. I want to see the kids given a shot, its our lowest expectations going in to a tournament for years, lets give youth a go. We've seen the Gerrard / Lampard midfield too many times. Lets have some pace and excitement..
Banksy - totally agree, but half our kids are missing Shiny - that actually looks like a cracking side (maybe Richards for Walker ?) We both agree on the formation though. Venables called it The Christmas Tree. Lets hope there are some cool presents hangin' off it
Hart, Ruddy, Green Walker, Richards, Jones, Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka, Baines, Cole. Lennon, OX, Carrick, Barry, Parker, Gerrard, Young, J.Cole Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge, Crouch --------------------Hart------------------- Richards----Cahill----------Jagielka-----Cole -----------Parker----------Barry----------- Lennon-----------Gerrard------------Young ------------------Welbeck----------------
I agree no Terry - he will split the squad Crouch for me I would persaude Scholes to go - if we are 1-0 up we want someone to kep the ball
Rooney is banned Massive, for the first 2 games? Being Welsh I never get this feeling of excitement every 2 years, even though I have to put the St George bunting up for Mrs RedorDead, and both of my boys are born English And before I get pissed off with people in work, saying that I bet I wish I was English. But I would like to know, how far you all think you will get?
ROD as far as I'm concerned it's us,we are all what we are,my mum was Cornish by the way,a Falmouth girl.......now I'm in trouble.......C'mom you Reds...
No Ferdinand in squad, no walker in squad. Carrol selected apparently. Really hope Joe Cole is in the squad too, had a storming season in France and our of our most technically gifted players.
Joe Cole - interesting. I forgot about him. Think its unlikely though, cos Hodge didn't go over to check him out. Think I'd still prefer Ox, but I will be amazed if he gets picked this time. He could do a Gazza '90 at the next world cup though
A lot of English fans are blissfully ignorant of any football outside of England. Joe Cole was fantastic for Lille and they've earned a Champions League place next year with him in the team for most of the season. I'd take Joe Cole solely on the fact that he had the balls to go outside of England for regular football, and that he'll be a better technical footballer because of it. However, Glen Johnson over Micah Richards?! I think Hodgson was our best choice for England manager, but this decision is completely insane. Hell, at least take Richards as backup!
GK – Hart, Green, Ruddy DF – Baines, Cahill, Cole, Johnson, Jones, Lescott, Terry M – Barry, Downing, Gerrard, Lampard, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Parker, Walcott, Young, Milner S – Carroll, Defoe, Rooney, Welbeck Confirmed squad.. How Downing got in I have no idea, bloke hasn't made a single assist or scored in the prem this year.
Birmingham keeper Jack Butland is among the list of five standby players, which also includes Manchester City winger Adam Johnson, Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, Everton defender Phil Jagielka and Liverpool midfielder JordanHenderson.
Would easily have preferred Johnson or Lennon to Downing. Still, hopefully we wont need to play him Good that Ox and Carroll got in, because they are fresh and new to the team and will spark us up (he said hopefully)
