First signing for the Shrews is former loan man Asa Hall after turning down a new deal for Oxford. Does this mean we are to lose Nicky Wroe?

I was a touch disappointed that we did not sign him first time (another Simpson foul up). On the other hand 75% of the Oxford forum are reasonably happy that he is leaving them but didn't we hear that about Mark Wright from Bristol Rovers support?

    Oxford fan in peace.

I'm shocked Asa has managed to secure a contract on better terms in a higher division, despite scoring a few in March he was never a first team regular and should be relatively easy to replace.

Having said that I wish him and Shrewsbury all the best next season.

Don't see this says anything about Wroe's position. We know we have to replace McAllister and we also had another CM on loan for most of the season. That's 2 CMs needed even if Wroe signs his new deal.

Matster, he clearly has an eye for goal, with a rocket of a shot, useful with both feet and strong in the air. But can be a bit lightweight in my opinion and does go missing when the going gets tough.

I think he could be a good foil for Richards, probably a better partner (not necessarily player) than Wroe, who seems to have become revered on B&A now his contract's almost up.

A good signing - I always rated him and with GTs guidance he can be a good player for us. He is box to box with some height and a good shot and could add a bit of goal scoring prowess to our midfield. If he was not well thought of at Oxford why was he offered another contract?

    Cheers Matster

Greenhousmeadowman, tbh he wouldn't be in my first XI in league 2 with OUFC let alone in league 1 with you lot, he was pretty much used as a squad player but ended up playing regularly due to our horrendous injury list. In most peoples eyes his wages could be better used on new signings. Like I said earlier though he does have a lot of great qualities and should be a decent signing for you.

Walsall fans panned Matt Richards last season and spent lots of time on our forums telling us how bad he was !!! He won almost all of the awards this season ( excluding young player!!) and has proved them all wrong. Sometimes it just takes a new club & manager to revamp a players career, hopefully this will be the case again. If anyone can bring the best out of a player , its Graham Tuner!

It is strange that we have offered a 2 year contract to a player who has no (or little) experience of a league higher than League 2 and supposedly offered only 1 year deals to 2 players who have quite a degree of higher league experience.

I think in the back of Turner's mind he didn't totally need Wroe, look at how he was down the pecking order with loanees in the squad this season

I am pleased with the signing, we'll need a bigger squad this year so expect another 6-8 players to sign on. Centre half, centre midfield, wingers and 'keepers are needed. We'll put up a better fight than Gas and Chairboys I'm sure!
