McNally confirms UEA are running a feasibility study into a bigger ground. But in the short term budget is for players....

My brother is a student at UEA, but he assures me he is playing no part in this study!

That's good. I've always felt that the corner with the hotel could have a few seats in front of it. <ok>

35000 is the perfect capacity for us at the moment.

Hmm, new ground ? Could it be we could potentially be on the move ? Nice new shiney stadium on the Showground site ? Easy access from the A47 and the soon to be dualled A11 ? Would make sense, we could probably fund it from the sale of Carrow Road as it is in a prime location, similar situation to that of Arsenal. As much as I love Carrow Road you have to move forward, time stands still for no man .................. Just a thought <whistle><whistle><whistle>

Seems unlikely in the near future if they are considering expansion of the current stadium to 35,000. Realistically I don't see us requiring a bigger stadium than that

.....unless there is a major population explosion in norfolk, and even then they will end up supporting a manc team, liverpool, chelski, arsenal...........

there is absolutely no reason why we would ever need a new ground. realistically a capacity of 35,000 is our limit for a club and city of our size. should that ever need to be increased further there is plenty of room for expansion on site. why spend tens of millions to build a similar size ground somewhere in the middle of nowhere when you can spend a few million developing a perfectly good site?

    pointless <ok>

My post was 'tounge in cheek' Supers but you never know. With the Rackheath eco town, NDR, more new homes, easy commute to the Capital with the A11 dualling etc, etc. If we were to retain EPL status for several seasons we might be able to attract crowds of 35-40k in the future? Never say never that's all <ok>

How many millions would you expect the carrow rd site to get for development purposes, i.e flats, retail? I'm guessing it would be quite a tidy sum due to the location, so surely you could almost get a new stadium for the value of selling Carrow Rd.

But having a nice spanking new stadium on the outskirts of the city, would be good for you the fans plus the club could use it for more revenue streams due to not being in the city centre.

i haven't got any idea how much the site is worth but i do seem to recall the clubs total assets being valued at around £55m when they were talking about selling up. i think that included delia's £12m debt so that would mean £43m minus colney, valued around £8m = £35m but that was in league one so our players would have been worth peanuts! £25m for the land and stadium would be my guess (we've already sold off more than £10m of the land before this), so not that great and certainly not enough to buy a new stadium with!! this is pure guesswork though so i may be miles off!!! <laugh>
