You can train them, then we can steal them off you (again). Saves us £5mill and everybodys happy (except you guys of course, but who cares about that) Now pi$$ off, Coldpoo_mike. We'll call you back when we need someone to unblock the toilets at Colney
In fairness I heard the Braintree branch of Argos threw in a pair of York Dumbbells and a Kettle ball as part of the deal.
Hope they included a punch bag too. Seems our friend mikey needs to let off some serious anger right now......
This makes perfect sense- each position in the league was worth about £800k. We're about ten places above where we were last year, and we'll have considerably less external debt to budget in considering it will be paid off in 12 months (they must have paid off about £3m a year). So I can see £10m being perfectly reasonable as the additional budget on top of last summer.
You would of thought after a year in the prem to push on the wage budget will be increased a bit. Which of course costs a hell of a lot more if you increase it by say 5k pw
its a difficult juggling act with the wages. it should go up but it needs to remain low yet able to compete with others! tricky...
Depends on the transfer policy as well. If it remains the same with young up and coming players from lower leagues it may remain similar or go up a little. If instead foreign targets or established players are targeted it will be required to go up more. I assume the policy will be similar to previous years though
Technically I suppose adding 5k per week on the wage budget is around £6m a year for a squad of 25. But actually I don't think it's as much as that because not EVERY player will get an increase in wages. Only a select few would get the full £5k increase, and some would get less.
Must admit I'm dubious about Lamberts claims that the foreign market is to expensive, you get a heck of alot more for your money as far as I'm concerned.
That's difficult to say. I've had a bit too much to drink (I'm a student, in case you are wondering why I'm drinking on Monday night) and it's late but the £10mill should be put alongside the wage cap, possibly £15k x 25 man squad x 52 weeks in a year and that's assuming everyone is earning £15 a week, which they're obviously not.
When the club drew up their budgets they will have gone with the worst case scenario. That would've been us being relegated having finished in 20th place. We've finished 12th so that's an extra six million or so in prize money that probably wasn't budgeted for.
I would take that comment with a pinch of salt. He may well go into the foreign market but only if he can find the right player. You certainly get a lot more choice if you go for foreign players.
Re carrabuh. The other day they had a French football journelist on talksport and he was saying that it is so cheap for British sides to persuade players cross the channel because there wages in there home country are so low. May be different for other countries though of course!
A student drinking, whatever next??? , that probably explains why you think everyone is earning £15 a week! go on have another one on me! ILD OTBC
I've had plenty as it is and doctors have told me to cut down on my drinking since I was in hospital! I'm not going to listen to these doctors! I meant assuming they all earn £15k a week.
Well, whilst I would never advocate listening to Talksport, I find myself reluctantly agreeing with the comment. Are you sure it wasn't Five Live?
I heard that interview, it was talksport They were talking about m'villa (think that's right name) who is linked with the gooners
