as a guess i'd say our summer budget is £10m. it makes sense as last seasons was around that mark and i doubt we will be able to spend more than that this term, especially as lambert will no doubt want extra funds in january.
Earlier i read a tweet saying that villa want a manager who can work on basically a shoe string budget and can get debt down but keep the club growing.
Well at least all this is been sorted out early so fans/players/manager can see the clubs intention for the coming season.
radio 5 live are suggesting that mark hughes is a contender. bizarre. they also just questioned why either lambert or rodgers would go to villa when they'd have no money to spend...
Truth hurts eh Sheffield_Budgerigar? It means £10 million on top of what youâve already spent on your squad, pretty obvious really. You lot actually thought you had £20 million to spend? Typical deluded little bird brains!
It's a big, big statement of intent You dont say "we are going for european football" or "We are going for the title" I remember Steve Kean saying Blackburn would be going for the champions league, you just dont do it What you do is set your stall out and let everyone know what your about. David McNally said he'd fight for Paul Lambert earlier today, Tonight Alan Bowkett announced we're debt free and is pumping a ton of cash into the norwich city ranks. these are the good signs.
They were talking about it on 5live and said the new manager would have to work on a shoestring budget. So seems unlikely he would get much more. Just another reason the Lambert to Villa link makes no sense.
All I need now is for Lambo to come out and sign a 3 yr contract, that way i'll sleep tonight and the dog won't get kicked again!
Hmmm, suppose he spend about 10 Million last summer, maybe more but then he probably structures the deals somehow. I have a feeling we have slightly more then that, it's not really like the board to pluck a figure out. That's what makes me think it on top of the original budget.
Norwich is a very well run club that is going forwards. Villa is a club that has just sacked their manager and is going backwards. Lambert has stopped uss from going backwards and has got very quickly forward in the Premier League. Does he really want to start it all over again at Villa? He has his players at Norwich, and the players he wants. He wouldn't be able to do a big overhaul at Villa with whatever budget Villa have. Lambert is an ambitious manager, he can fulfill his ambition at Norwich, but can he at Villa? I don't think so.
nope, i don't know, but lambert did say it was a difficult situation. i think we can afford to buy him but the logical problem is wages. leicester fans said he was on more than £20k a week while on loan to them but there's no evidence to that statement
David McNally is the definition of misguided ARROGANCE; he deserves relegation even more than the dreadful Gartside.
When you use the term cash injection, if that was the term, to me that means extra money pumped in from the owners? On top of tv money That is what it would mean to me
i suspect you're right yellowlittle. we never tend to let clubs know our budget. it'll be bigger than they suggest and i'm sure there'll be a little more under the sofa too
