Swords, what makes me even more gutted is that we get zero cred for our performance today. And I'm convinced we took the foot of the pedal as soon as our bench celebrated like crazy when the final whistle went at Stoke, we would of taken a point if that hadn't happened imo (don't laugh). If we compare it to Barca v Chelsea where everyone leaped on the Chelsea bandwagon and how great their performance were I would go on record saying our challenge today was greater. As the gulf in class and price of the teams were bigger today than between Barca v Chelsea. And for that we deserve far more credit than we're currently getting. It's all small fry in the bigger picture where all that mattered today was survival and probably immaterial in the end, but it still nags me a little.
Agree with this!! Swords...........only you could cause such an argument on the day we stay up!! Jesus mate!!
I wanted Villa, Blackburn and Wolves to go down of the six teams that were in the mire a few games ago, City to deny United the Title. My best scenario was a win or draw with City and United matching City's result at Sunderland so City would be champions. I love the way Bolton are decrying their luck at Stoke, just adds to the pleasure of staying up. How many flukey goals have they had of late and how many decisions have gone their way too. So it is onwards and upwards and looking forward to next season, and as MH said "no team of mine is going to be in the same position again". Hurrah to that my friends.
this time next year we wont be throwing games away like that. but i know what you mean it would have been good to have stuffed city in their back yard.
Must admit, although elated at the R's avoiding relegation, can't help but feel a little deflated at the way we lost the game in the last 2 minutes albeit the 94th & 95th! While I'm at it where did that extra 5 minutes come from ffs?
TBF even now I still can't work out how we lost that one...I must admit I think I cursed us when at 89 mins I took a pic of the scoreboard saying 2 - 1 Hoops and seconds after they scored. Then it all went a bit surreal when the QPR bench erupted and ran around like maniacs on hearing the final whistle had gone at Stoke I can't see how anyone can really be gutted though. We stay up, surely that was the target?
I have said this before.....this was the single most important match in their history. I predict we will have a match like that soon, and people will be surprised when we win it..... Next season....to get our place in Europe...a must win match....which we win!
Main thing is we stayed up and 2 months ago I for one thought we had no chance. Shame about the result in the end but Ill take it! What an up and down season! WE DID IT!! AND WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!
gutted you got elated after that performance & result of the stoke match, was mentaly exhausted after watching that match.
I've slept on this overnight and I am more inclined to agree with Swords. There is no argument here. It is perfectly possible to be elated at safety yet slightly miffed that we did not draw or win a winnable game. Had we held on for the draw, or even won, and denied City, we would have gone in the history books and more of the talk would have been about us today instead of being pretty much ignored. For that reason, both elated / ecstatic etc but slightly miffed / deflated too.
Let´s put this to bed shall we.......at 14.55 yesterday afternoon if you were asked before the match if you wanted to lose 3-2 to City and for Stoke to draw with Bolton 2-2 would you have taken it??? - I know I would have. The team played with passion and courage yesterday and basically we just ran out of steam, look who citeh were bringing off the bench to replace top class players, it was like for like and believe me if Dzeko had been on earlier he would have gobbled up everything in the box. If we are going to dwell on losing from a 1-2 position in the dying seconds, let us see it in a more broader context of losses this seasons, that is to say I am far more disappointed losing 6-1 to you know who, losing at home to Wolves, Fulham, Bolton etc......and the rest of the inept displays that we are so capable of producing, maybe even not getting that elusive point we deserved against Citeh at home. We are QPR and we are still in the Premier League get celebrating boys, next year it´s onwards and upwards eh? BTW lovely karma for Cashley Young!!!
You just sound like you've got the belief that QPR should be content to just make up the numbers. "Ah well so what we were winning in the 92nd minute? They're Man City and we're little old QPR and should be content that we gave them a good game" I'm sorry my friend but that ain't the mentality needed at our Club.
I've never said or thought anything like that! We had 10 men for the final 30mins, they were out on their feet. They let it slip!! They were all heroes, apart from the twat Barton. We stayed up yesterday and that was a great achievement. I said from the outset that I was a little disappointed we didn't see the game out, but the most important thing was that we stayed up!!
Still don't care about the defeat. We can start talking about who's staying or not in a positive manner rather than who we can hang onto - that's the only difference that matters.
