http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/898935-spurs-renew-interest-in-loic-remy-as-marseille-consider-sale Obviously this is just one rumour in a newspaper, similar to what we will see hundreds of in the coming months, but I think this one has got a bit of realism. Someone on another forum I post on who has a good track record of being in the know, has said he is coming over at the beginning of the week to hold talks and see the new training ground. Also, Marseille look like finishing 10th in Ligue 1 this season, so I think we could tempt him even if Chelsea win next week. Thoughts?
He's been mentioned many times over the season. However, sources in France constantly report he doesn't want to leave (this might be a non-issue as Marseille need cash). He'd do a great job for us, so let's hope results next weekend go our way, and we get some good summer signings
Remy is a player we've been linked to for a while (and made a half-assed bid for his services in January) and could be the player to fit into our system and wage structure. However, if we were to have a choice, I'd take Olivier Giroud as first option, as he creates more goals than Remy does (11 assists to 8 this season), and actually has a better overall record for goals and assists (65 and 25, compared to 56 and 20) and a better goals to minutes ratio (179 to 199)
The problem with Giroud, and Montpellier players in general now, is that the wider footballing world have seen what's happened in Ligue 1 and taken notice of Montpellier's players. Giroud's price now, compared with the start of the season has skyrocketed.
There is an issue, as mentioned by a Gooner in another thread, that Montpellier's chairman is fond of pricing players out of a move. He put a €16m price tag on him in February, so if we signed him for less than we paid for Pavlyuchenko it would be a steal. However, we'd need to act quickly in order for this to happen.
That is the odd thing, because if their chairman wanted to price every key player out of a move, he'd slap a £30m price tag on Younes Belhanda as well, but he's available for around £7m judging by some rumours. However, it seems that Giroud wants a move to Bayern...and, annoyingly, before I could suggest it Ivica Olic has moved to Wolfsberg.
€50-60mm? ****ing joke price. I want to know where our scouting system is! We desperately need a proven goalscorer - how did we manage to miss Jelavic?

FFS. I've been saying that we should've gone in for him for bloody ages! Experienced Champions League striker, available on a free, already shown that he can work with van der Vaart, plays the lone role well... Balls.
