I'll say it quietly HIAG because I don't want to spoil your argument but Max Miller was from Brighton, Paul Merton from West London and Jim Davidson from South East London. Apart from that fine, <laugh>

Al Qaeda is multi-nationational terrorist organisation made up of groups from numerous countries. What has that got to do with racism or anybody's race? <doh>

    Ignorant and a racist?

Which begs the question: How many Hillsborough groups are there? The article implies there are at least three, at which point you have to ask why there are so many.

The way I read it there are two groups mentioned in this article, one a 'family support group', one a 'justice campaign'. Who's the third mentioned? Though I believe there are many more.

I think his point was he looks Arab in that picture, and he automatically connects looking Arab with being a member of a terrorist network. If I was to say Ledley King looks like a member of the Lord's Resistance Army based on nothing more than a picture of him in a football shirt (i.e not holding a machine gun or wearing military gear) then I would expect that would offend.

So yes, a comment based on the colour of his skin could be deemed racist

This passage: Liverpool did take time to meet with the seven members of the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG) committee but other groups were not consulted. - the implication being there is more than HFSG and Hillborough Justice campaign (which, a quick Google search later, shows there is - Hope For Hillsborough)

In what sense is my comment Racist, as I'm not discriminating against anyone, merely pointing out the visual aspect of the "advert" and then adding in my own humour.

If a black man says to a white man, you look like a member of the bnp, but then buys him a pint and gets the banter, is he a racist? or can he be deemed to be racist?

Christ, the defence of "banter" for making bigoted comments rears its unconvincing head again...

Ok, just to clear something up, I am from an arabic country myself and have a sense of humour, hence my comments and i have spent in my life living in a multil racial society, which is why i feel at ease at making comments, mainly because im surrounded by people who are good mates (white mates) that share a general view of seeing the funny side, rather then act overly pc.

However if it makes you feel better you can call me a racist  and if I offended anyone then wasn’t my intention.

To say someone looks like a member of the BNP based on the fact they are white, could be deemed racist regardless if you are trying to be funny and buy the guy a pint afterwards. As I said you defined someone based on the colour of their skin, is that ok if its banter?

What one person construes as being racist, could for another be nothing more than normal language. Sound familiar?

I guess we all have different views of what racism is and it depends on what life we have lived, as i said above, im from an arabic country and would be classed as mixed race so I tend to see the funny side of such comments.

I don't define anyone by how they look, i define someone by how they act but with these type of debates they always end up going overly pc and a complete misunderstanding taking place.
