Well he should be barred, he hasn't had a break, his form this season being nothing like before, justifying that decision. Apart from that, a complete non-starter...though I do admire optimism to a point.

He will have had ten weeks rest before the Bollympics starts, so he will have had a break before the tournament, and he will have at least three weeks afterwards as well - a longer one than Rooney, Wellbeck et al.

Given that one minute Bacon Face is refuses to allow Hernandez to represent his country in the Olympics, but the next he says he's all for Giggs representing some cobbled-together bunch of England rejects, that's going to cause a certain amount of resentment. Not something you want to do before the transfer window re-opens.

That's the kind of comment that could come back to bite you in the behind, but no matter! If he stepped in a hole on an awful Sunderland pitch and turned his ankle, that really makes it his fault, doesn't it? Very clever. <doh> You really are an idiot.

Looks more like SAF wants him around for a more gentle pre season then, I doubt it would be 10 weeks rest either hbic, surely the GB team will be getting together before then. Anyway, besides the point, Peaboy has played 3 summers running for his country. I'm sure even you have to agree another form of football other than club pre-season would be wrong for a lad that age. You wouldn't want a Spurs lad driven into the ground in similar fashion. <ok>

It's more likely that Bacon Face wants to keep some players fresh for the all-important summer tours of the US/Far East they have scheduled for the period between the Euros and the start of the Premier League season (which just so happens to be when the Bollympics are taking place...)

Of course, anyone making that connection will have their press passes revoked.

because Levy is a very shrewd businessman. we'll get him. If what Vertonghen is saying is true, he'll be pushing for the switch and be an influence of the deal between the clubs happening. In the end a price will be agreed, and you can bet it'll be in DL's favour!! <laugh>
 
we've failed to sell and buy player's in the past though because he wants more for some of our deadwood player's or he thinks someone is overpriced,and someone else has gazumped him

yeah selling of the dead wood has been pretty crap in the past, but I think DL knows what we need to do this summer, hence vertonghen being looked at so early on. we can't make those mistakes again, leaving the transfers till the end of the window. Just about everyone thinks and knows that, so I'm sure Levy is the same, with the euro's coming up which is going to inflate prices. we have to pay the prices, but there's still nothing wrong with haggling over the price on purchases. Just gotta make sure this year that the deadwood goes for whatever to get the wage bill down, allowing for others to come in.
 
I foresee bloody last minute deals again. If the Greeks are forced out of the euro, other southern european banks will become under pressure. People with money in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese bands will withdraw money and deposit it elsewhere, i.e German, Swiss, UK or US banks. If the money goes to Germany the Germans will have to support the southern europeans but have little or no security in exchange, if the money goes elsewhere the Euro will be finished. Either way the Euro will be around 1.50 - 1.60 to the pound by the end of the summer hence buying european players will be much cheaper due to the exchange rates. Levy is no fool and he will wait for better value. Blessed are the Greeks!!!
 
It's never a good deal if your targets go elsewhere, though.
Sometimes it's worth paying a little extra or taking a slight hit in order to get a deal done.
Not Liverpool-style overpaying, but an extra million on a £7-8m deal isn't going to break the bank.
 
SKY it is said have brought money in to the game or have they just brought inflation? Look at the costs of wages and transfers before them and then after. The roll call of top clubs has not changed much just the amount of money they have to spend. So everything goes up so more money buys less, not much change.

It would be an interesting calculation for a financial type to work on.
