while watchimg games on tv, have you noticed how some crowds seem lively yet some are so dull.

watching stoke/chelsea the crowds seemed so noisy and up for it.

then watched mags/wolves and the crowd was so dull, even though they were winning, im sure this wasn't the case and has everything to do with where the commentators are positioned.

many safc games the crowd seems dull, and we know you are a boistreous lot.

first i thought it was because of the bigger stadia but then watched arsenal and it seemed like the commentators were right in amongst the crowd.

wish safc could move the commentators so as everyone watching the lads around the world could sample some of the crowd and noise.

it maybe a trivial point, but where the commentators are put make a big difference to the whole match experience

Not sure mate, cant speak for Newcastle but at our games we never get that atmosphere and noise of Roker and I dont know why. Could be the stadium, the crowd or my seat. At Roker I stood behind the goal, Fulwel end and it heaved, I now sit in the east stand, bottom tier, halfway line, fantastic view, comfortable and very polite and subdued

You've got a point Commachio, i've noticed that myself, even when we hosted the scum for the derby the atmosphere was pretty good in the stadium but when i watched it back it sounded dead on TV. Probably got something to do with where the camera's are positioned. I know there is one just about on the halfway line at the back of the lower tier in the west stand.

It's all down to the positioning of the sound equipment and the sound being wound down for the commentators to speak. Also the sound gets bumped up at so called big games Sky 4 (or is it 5 now?) just to make it sound good. Hate to say it but the noise at the councilcarpark.com stadium is a lot louder than most in the PL, as for us at the glorious Stadium of Light it's all down to apathy we expect to win most games and so are not too concerned about shouting the lads on. I still reckon if the games were on at 3 on a Saturday instead of any other time bar that then we would get a decent atmosphere.

The Production companies can mix in some actual background from the on-field microphones – but according to common logic, the amount of swearing from fans and players alike, will require some speedy real time editing to keep the broadcasting association happy. Maybe some techies amongst us can make some suggestions, but defiantly required at some grounds.

maybe after rooneys rant yesterday, they may have second thoughts about microphones around the players, may as well put them amongst the crowd you'll hear no worse than what he spouts
