I can't help but feel a lot of folk seem to be missing the significance of today's events. If I hear 'oh well, he wouldn't of took us up anyway' again by some moron I'm not convinced I'l be responsible for my actions. Whatever you think of Barmby's managerial ability, he has today been sacked for non-footballing reasons and effectively been called a liar, thus possibly affecting his future working life. I can't abide that.. and that is why I am disgusted. I suppose it depends on who you believe in this whole saga, personally I'm inclined to believe that bloke who's been with us since 2004, continually represents the club professionally, goes above and beyond the call of duty by leathering cockney wasters who don't represent the club professionally and is always regarded highly as respected by his peers, especially very important ones for our future like Liam Rosenior - this is as opposed to the Allam's who I, and I don't think many know a great deal about.. apart from they love a god barney with a local council and they like to contradict themselves in the local media. Admittedly, I am exaggerating, The Allams have done a lot of good at the club, and Barmby is not without his faults - but this still stinks.. and while I don't want to 'stand still' I can't even begin to contemplate who's gunna be our next manager when I'm still so angry and confused. People such as Pearson and Barmby can't be treat like this and we cant be expected to just 'move on' surely?
I agree Jason but it seems that a lot of our fans have no principles at all. We will have to follow the club with these numpties running it and just hope for the best really, but I wouldnt go starting threads like' so sad Nicky has gone but' shows a complete lack of respect for what he did for us, City Legend Nicky.
good post, i dont give a **** who our new manager is at the moment, they could announce guardiola or mourinho and it would still leave a bitter taste..
Exactly. After what I have read about the Ruscador and Hull Ionions' saga, I am afraid as to the future. I only hope that I am wrong. I trust what OLM and PT have said, as they always seem to have "inside information". The way NB has been treated is disgraceful and I, along with many others wish him well. In fact, he is probably better off away from such "business people." I thank them for saving the club, but as I said in a previous post, being rich does not guarantee integrity. Egypt is a wonderful country with a rich history. I only hope that we do not end up in the Valley of the Kings and become mummified!!!
Oh thak heavens there are still some people that can see through the clever PR of the Allams. I am with you 100%. I just fail to see how anyone can be anywhere near happy with this situation. Sack him for football reasons but not for this, but its like banging your head against a brick wall with some people. Didn't you know that having money to put into the club means that you are never wrong, you never smudge the truth and your word is law. (Aaaargh)
In at least one interview he said he chose not to spend the money that was made available because he was happy with his squad. In at least one interview he has made out that there was no money made available to him to spend. What ever the reasons for it, I don't think claiming he's been honest throughout is something that would hold up.
The point is Ricardo, and I'm sorry this has been done to death on this board elsewhere, but was he saving face in January? On behalf of the club as well as for himself? He's a proud man, just as much as papa Allam. His naivety and subsequent frustration coming out in the interview with Burnsy obviously suggests that the story isn't straight somewhere. I wouldn't be too ready to simply blame Nick, but then I can't see why the owners would plough a fortune into the club that they'll probably never get back, and yet penny pinch at a crucial point in the season. It still doesn't add up. I don't think that the statements today really tell the whole story.
people's opinions of barmby's managerial skills are getting in the way of clarity and moral values at our club... what happened is WRONG... should not be forgotten or overlooked excellent post btw
I was just making the specific point that if his honesty was so important he wouldn't have lied on behalf if the club in January either, so for people to take a high ground on the basis that he's been called a liar when he's always so honest isn't working for me. For what ever reason he's put out two contradictory impressions of the same events, so in one of them he was compromising his own integrity, it doesn't matter which was true and which wasn't. If anything, if he's lied in January that should be worse than if he's lied later on, because lieing in January would be allowing his status and honest reputation amongst the fans to be used to give credibility to something he didn't believe in. His naivety with the press is something that's amazed me all along about Barmby given his history as a player. How can you be an England tournament player who's played for clubs like big clubs like Liverpool, Everton, and Spurs and be so poor at knowing what to say in the media?
