Martin Jol gets a bigger cheer on Sunday than he ever has during his time at Spurs.

I expect us to draw and possibly lose out on 4th and then Redknapp come out and give it the usual bollocks about how 5th is a great achievement for us and that we were a nothing midtable side for the last 50 years etc before he arrived and 'transformed' us.

Redknapp out and Martinez in.

You do wonder if, whatever position we finish in, he'll ever tire of reminding us what position the team was in when he came. Yes, he turned us around, but I don't believe that he's achieved any miracle in doing so. Just about anybody could have done better than Ramos. Don't get me wrong, he's done a good job for us. I'm just getting a little tired of his constant self-promotion.
Has he taken us about as far as he's capable of doing? Unless Levy is going to give him unlimited funds - yes.
 
Spurs are walking a fine line at the moment. We are there or thereabouts. If we finish THERE then we can probably hold onto our best players. Finish THEREABOUTS and we will probably have to start building a team all over again. I think Redknapp is capable of keeping us THERE or THEREABOUTS but don't think he can make us consistently finish in the top 4. Levy has a tough decision to make in the near future. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't?

Maybe it will just come down to what other managers would be willing to take on the challenge and would they be better than Redknapp. Tough call.
 
sorry mate but i don't agree. Redknapp has made mistakes and he does need to learn from them but I think that we need a little more perspective. At the beginning of the season the top 3 was going to be City United and Chelsea and Arsenal and Liverpool would be fighting for 4th or 5th and we'd be 6th.
I understand the frustration that we should have had 3rd wrapped up and agree that some mistakes were made but for us to be in with an outside chance of 3rd and a good chance of 4th is a good job.
My concern is that the 'arry for england job ****e will resurface next season and we'll be back to square one.

As for Martin Jol....I love him...and he loves me....simples

I'm a Jol fan, too. However, Harry just isn't tactically astute enough to make the most of some of the exceptional talent that we currently have.
 
Seriously hope you dont get Martinez - that guy could do a ot of damage with the right resources.

Where on earth is this OFFICIAL document that said the best we were going to finish is 5th or 6th? I think that was touted by the usual ex-footballers and pundits pandering to the safe view. So many experts out there who didn't see Newcastle coming. We're an expensive sports car being driven badly and the driver needs to go!
 
As much as I like BMJ I remember his shortcomings tactically. I remember those games at home to teams like Blackburn we would be 2-1 up with 15 mins to go and he would take off Lennon and Bring on a full back or def midfield leaving us no out ball which usually left us backs to the wall and facing ball after ball into the box , result 2-2 or worse.

No spurs fan saw us challenging for top 3 especially after our first 2 games... the disappointment is due to our great run...I would have taken this situation before the start of the season that's all I am saying
 
I'm with colin lee on this. As for not being able to get us consistently top 4 that's an incredible ask considering what we are competing against but he has almost done that, and people should be very wary of changing something that is more or less working!

Looking back!
Going on the evidence of my eyes, this season has shown Spurs to be on a new level in terms of play.

There are only two teams that are better than Spurs in the PL, Man.U & Chelsea. We should IMO have finished third in this league. We haven't because our results against the bottom teams were so poor.

You can put this down to tactics, injuries, complacency, or diversions. You cannot put it down to poor officials or bad luck, we only have ourselves to blame.

In the end of course the blame lies with the management they are only ones who can react and do something to change things.

You can argue for changes or you can argue for stability, whichever way you go the experience of this season needs to be taken fully on board.

It's obvious that we need new strikers and a new goalkeeper but even with those gaps you cannot argue that we have had a great season.

To finish 5th or 6th having been outplayed or beaten by all the teams above us would have been a decent season. To finish in these positions having beaten and or outplayed most of the teams above us bar two, then you have to say we have under achieved.

We could and should have done better!

That was my view then and if we don't finish 3rd we will have underachieved again IMO.

By the new year, we had realised our potential. We had a great away record but in the january when the desperados got everybody behind the ball playing for a point Redknapp couldn't work out how to play them. Week after week the same approach trying to break down 10 men around the penalty area. Now all of a sudden after an almighty fall we are grateful for a finish that we couldn't have dreamed of 6 months ago. I can't subscribe to that, he's tactically inept for a manager at that level.
 
Putting players out of position time and time again pissed me off.

He somehow managed to destroy our attacking threat to the point it was non existant!

The real question is how pissed off is levy?

Look at the players we have! Ok, the squad doesn't have much depth, it's true. But, is Man Utd's best eleven any better than ours? IMO, No. So, what' the difference then? To me, it's organisation, tactics, and the self- belief, that we lack. That's why Utd still challenge for the title, and we don't.
