How did Carroll get his shot off for the goal? Him and Terry in the box was like watching two chests of drawers trying to dance with each other.

lol very true..that goal and the turn by Carroll was all in slow motion..

Now call me naive..or just adventurous...maybe brave?....i dont see why but maybe even confident...but there is a part of me a little bit...actually quite a big part of me that wants Newcastle to match our results in both games and that is for us both to win our remaining fixtures and to finish 3rd and 4th respectively..with us getting 3d on goal diffrence.....i would just love that for 2 reasons...one is to obviously do Arsenal over to miss out on top 4 nd to watch Man city screw it up....their Blue moon rose at the wrong time for me..just when our cockerel threatened to crow..they wake up with an endless pot of gold!!

Dona - the best outcome, surely, is that we finish 3rd, and Arsenal finish 4th, just to make watching the CL final so good for us and so nerve racking for Arsenal fans. The alternative, them 3rd and us fourth will mean me staying away from a TV for the entire duration of the CL final.

very true...that would be ideal Mr Numb!!

however...you cant deny that to watch them totally miss out would top that? plus your scenario means that Chelsea win the CL?

i want Chelsea to lose that match and them miss out too...yeah call me greedy...im prepared to be the fat kid with this one lol.

Sorry, Dona, but I'll have to support the English club in the CL final. I'd even support Arsenal, as long as it didn't mean us missing out. Always good to see us beat those continental types, plus keeps our UEFA points high for the seedings and retain our 4 club entry.

But I guess either option is OK by me.

Assuming it's not going to,affect our prospects of CL football, then it's a tough decision. The Chavs against The Germans! I'll try to remain neutral.

8. Sorry CN but I cannot support the Chavs in the Final - and certainly could not support the Goons (mind you, that's becoming an increasingly unlikely scenario!!)
Whilst they deserve some praise for actually getting past Barca, unless Chelsea change the way they played in the semi then I would hate to see that brand of football being successful on the highest stage.

(from a Yes fan to a Floyd fan?? Lol)

Seventeen of their squad aren't English

Not exactly the best club to get jingoistic about...

You forgot the fact that the most odious man in English football is the Captain.

If we get third because Ade scores the winning goal against fulham, from a VDV assist, after Sandro wins a tackle and moves it on to Luka, after Brad saved a penalty earlier on, I'll still happily follow my English club in the CL next term.

I know what you're saying CN, personally I've never been able to put rivalries aside in other competitions so the team playing Arsenal or Chelsea will always get my support. Even if I tried to support the English team, it's like asking me to wag my tail, try as I might I physically can't do it.

Love the name of this thread..........Sorry to burst your bubble lads ................While you may consider Chelsea to be a rival, we consider you to be nothing more than guaranteed points

The two points you've taken off us this season haven't exactly done you much good, have they? Still 6th <doh>

Oh and your lot are so obsessed with trying to create some kind of rivalry between, not the otherway around.

#2734
15. Guaranteed points? Not so sure about that, pal.
You have 11 pts from the last 9 PL games against us - exactly the same as we have against you. And we didn't have the benefit of two non-goals to turn last seasons game at SB.
So unless you are suggesting that the guarantee involved some sort of match-fixing then perhaps ou ought to reconsider.........

Are you sure you are not a Mouser? With that level of delusion you would surely pass for one......

Yeh 6th..............Our worst season since 02 and still only 5points behind you with a game in hand, not really a trumpet blower for you is it?.....I certainly don’t think there is any rivalry..............

Who's been blowing any trumpets? I was pointing out the ridiculousness of your comment about getting points off us.

Chelsea certainly aren't our main rivals and I don't look out for Chelsea games like I do for Arsenal but there is some rivalry there, something that nearly every Chelsea fan would accept too. If you're in any doubt have a look at how many of the threads on your board are about us.

Take a look at your own board on here, then tell the regulars on there your theory.

This thread mainly deals with teams that are around us in the league or those that were expected to be at the start of the season.
Liverpool featured quite heavily for a fair while and Newcastle have been mentioned a lot recently.
Neither of those are traditional or geographical rivals, so I'm not sure why you think Chelsea are being mentioned in that vein.
The way that your season finishes could affect ours, so it's on here.
