I think he makes a fair point, it's not even being racist, all it's doing is evaluating which people are high risk and which people are low risk. It's no different to the Police pulling over a group of young males in a car late at night, yet the same police would ignore a middle aged woman driving home at the same time. Is that discrimination, or is that just using abit of common sense as to who's more likely to be up no good?

I was speaking to this old biddy in Asda the other day. Anyway the conversation got onto doing what you got to do to survive these days

She was 'sorry' but it was all the doing of the immigrants, who were getting all the money when the 'nationals' couldnt.

During the course of the conversation she mentioned how her son in law is now on the dole and is better off and when I mentioned I went to sign on once and was told I couldnt due to my savings she spent 20 minutes telling me how I should have basically 'scammed' the system to get the dole <laugh>

Even my kid who was with me laughed all the way home.

To be fair I'd like to see it put in context of sex/age/class/wealth/urban populations which would probably help explain the trend. The poorest inner city male teenagers are, I'm guessing ,the most likely to be stopped and searched - let me see a chart of poor inner city black stoppages per head of population vs white stoppages with the same demographic.

I suppose you havent read about Jermaine Defoe and the case he had (has?) against the met for stop and search?

I worked in community safety and from my experience (and this is in no way a professional survey etc) colour is all that matters regardless of area etc.
all that changes is that in the 'posher' or more affluent areas they dress it up better

The funniest thing ever was a community safety meeting that was going to be held at Stoke Local Policing Unit (this is the one in stoke not all of stoke on trent). The guest speaker was a 6ft + black guy, who arrived really late. guess why?

<laugh> as he was walking to the police station from the car park he gut stopped and searched

He is in his 40's, had a briefcase and was wearing a suit

Of course you did. Anyone mentions a subject on here and you're guaranteed to have worked in the field. I'm surprised that between siring seven children, attaining TWO Masters degrees, maintaining two homes, being a full time carer and driving two cars you've managed to find the time to do any sort of work.

I just love the way he's always got an anecdote from his own experience to back up his points.

JUst couple of things old chap

- I only have 1 masters degree. Its 2 normal degrees that I have/did

- I am NOT a full time carer, thats my Mrs. I run my own business

- I have 1 home, which I live in. The others are houses which I do up and sell etc

- I own 2 cars, doesnt necessarily involve driving both at any given time

What can I say am a man of the world

No Fan, I said "I love it..." Now I know you struggle with this, and I can almost understand that you might get "irritated by" and "can't stand" confused. But to struggle with the difference between "I love" and "it irritates me" is ridiculous even for you.

I don't doubt the bloke exists. Just your little tale. It's not as implausible as golf-club Rambo or the pain-free old cancer-sufferer though <laugh>
