An about face from Harry, after last week telling the world it would be hard to keep Modric he now says he cannot be sold. Looks to me like Levy has moved on his newly restored strong position (Harry has no England alternative any more) and reminded Harry of where his loyalties should lie. OK Harry has a lot of football knowledge and experience, and it's a good job for him that he does, for without that he would struggle to fill shelves in a supermarket. Too late for him to learn now so we will just have to put up with his constant naive media blurting and concentrate on his abilities as a football man. This just typifies Harry for me. Every statement that comes out of his mouth is about self-preservation and making sure that if any player is sold, not sold or is unhappy is never down to him. When he thought he was still in the running for the England job, he conveniently used the possibility of Modric being sold as a diversion, thus placing pressure on Daniel Levy. Now that's he's staying put, he knows he needs to keep Modric to maintain the clubs progress and thus, keeps the pressure on our Chairman. The guy is crafty.
Erm....the club will be finished without Bale or Modders? I don't think so Harry. I'd rather he just shut up...full stop. I don't care for 90, 180 or 360 turns, stop talking ****e and he wouldn't need to say anything.
Indeed, pretty much sums up my feelings about him. I am very grateful for what he has done for us over the last 3 seasons, but I still have doubts about his long-term strategy and tactical abilities, and his media antics drive me up the wall sometimes. But it seems that we're stuck with him now for better or worse, so let's hope he can prove the doubters wrong, myself included.
He talks when he wants, he talk when he wants, Harry Redknapp, he talks when he wants. Yep, it is a bit jarring, but...to be honest, If we keep winning, I don't care what Harry says. If 3rd place happens, I'd gladly accept Harry's talk as an accompaniment to what would be music to my ears.
OK but it's when we lose that his comments do not help (to put it mildly) and don't forget he will be on TV clacking on about England all summer. A time when his time would be put to better use planning for the new season. I have no patience left for Mr.Redknapp the 'voice' of my club just grates whenever he spouts off about something that would be better left unsaid.
I agree!! Which is another reason why we must win more. Let's face it. If we win the next two, He's definitely staying. Plus, he's an old dog, and I don't see him learning the new trick of shutting the f up when we desire it. So, the only thing that will actually make it bearable is winning.
How is he going to do that job, Spurf? Anything he says, that's even remotely critical of England, is going to just sound like sour grapes. Why he's taken the job, I don't understand. Money, I suppose.
in a nutshell what the Guru said.....is it any wonder the Spurs fans have a big issue with HR? like i said in another article...Harry looks after himself...however what baffles me is when he thought he was getting the England job..he was not worried of jeopardising something he had contributed to building at spurs and actually seemes like he wanted to dismantle it so that everyone could say that Spurs only achieved what they did solely due to Redknapp...however since the England debacle has been removed..id like to think that Harry has seen the error of his ways...im probably wrong but im willing to belive that because i feel as though we need to focus on getting 3rd and we have a great platform for it following the Arsenal v Norwich match...after the season is over i think we will be having an epic debate about Harry.
Surely he doesn't need the money, I don't know, perhaps he just likes the attention and being in the limelight. I suppose there is the fact he will have a grandstand view of the best players in Europe but then he could have had that anyway. He certainly does not think through the consequences of his actions as we have seen on many occasions, so looking for reasons may be a fools errand.
Harry Loooooovvvveeeessss the attention. lol That's why he's taken the job. I think he'll make a good pundit though, it'll be entertaining to watch and hear. Plus, he's the obvious candidate for the job....
Hate to disagree but 'Arry is being consistant. By saying that if Spurs don't qualify for the CL we will struggle to keep Modric and Bale and also saying there is no way Spurs will sell their best players, he is reminding Modric and Bale how important and what good players they are. It's part of his man management skills, keeping their self belief up.
Well said, and I completely agree with you. As for the 'problem' with Harry doing TV work in the summer, well he is actually given 5 weeks leave by the club durng the close season and if he chooses to spend some of that in a TV studio, then I don't see why there should be a problem with that.
There's plenty of time to pull the season pieces after the seasons finished, its still on, so lets get behind the team, this season its all about teams going on runs, good and bad, we're on a good one at the right time, regardless of whats happened. COYS!
Bales self belief is all too evident in recent games and not to the benefit of the team. Sorry Deedub I don't buy it, Mr.Redknapp does not do strategy. People may have their reasons for supporting him, me, I support Spurs not a manager who has spent the last few weeks wanting out and who has consistently said the wrong things at the wrong time since he arrived. As far as I am concerned he has lost the right for respect.
