Hard to believe but just one week ago today we were waking up full of nerves knowing it was in our own hands, but also knowing that football can turn round to bite you. After such a good season going through the play offs would be almost unbearable. This week we have been able to look at the first play-off matches with only mild interest, just glad it doesn't involve us. We have been able to read with interest all the celebrations and awards at SMS. The discussions have started on likely (and unlikely) signings. The summer has plenty to interest us, including preseason matches, whilst we recharge our batteries for next season. Off to work now, enjoy the FA Cup if you are not.

It has just dawned on me this morning that i have entered the wilderness that is close season. My wife calls SFC my mistress and Fran i dont know how i can live without her life seems already empty. I cant bring myself to speculate on who we might or might not sign because Cortese told me not to and i am scared to get on the wrong side of him.No we are now left with cricket ,golf, tennis, athletics, all sports for people who have been unable to grasp any feeling for the one and only sport on earth and please dont talk to me about the euros i will be in Menorca the week of the finals and will have to tolerate the Spaniards celebrating another success whilst i keep my head down.I dont know how i will cope

    The summertime blues.
Following the saints has dominated my weekends(especially the last couple of months) so today is a little weird. All those household and garden projects I have been successfully avoiding.
Anyway, here is to a good summer and the Markus Leibherr trophy will be the start of the season for me

I have a bit of a conundrum facing me ahead of the new season. I started going to see Saints on a regular basis in the 03 season, I then had a season ticket for 04 and then the dreaded 05 season and again from 06 - to the dreaded 09 season. When I started going Saints had been in the top flight of English football for 25 years...when I stopped going a few years later we were in League 1. I have been at Uni in Plymouth since our relegation to League 1 and following my absence we have gained successive promotions...the only game that I made it to this season was at home to Bristol City...and we all know how that went... Now as the new season approaches I will be back in Southampton and have the opportunity to go watch my beloved Saints again, but going by my record...should i step foot in St. Marys again?

Some of us might have been waking up with nerves. I was waking up for an FA Cup Final-esque feeling. The whole week leading up to the Coventry, plus then the morning of the game, was exactly how I felt leading up to the 2003 Final. Excitment, excitment, excitment. Not one shred of nerves. (For completely different reasons of course - vs Arsenal, we had no pressure on us at all; vs Coventry, it was always going to be a walk in the park).
