Redknapp has signed up to join the BBC's coverage of the Euros this summer.
    He obviously needs the money.

What do people make of this?

He gets free access to games and does what he likes to do best - talk about football. To be honest, who wouldn't want to do that. Get flown out for nothing, attend games for nothing and then gas on about why England lost so poorly. No brainer for me.

Not so sure about him needing the money PNP, more a case of he can't stop talking <laugh>

I recall when he was a pundit on the last World Cup, he sat next to Adebayor and then later signed him. Now I see David James is also down to be a pundit this summer.......

I don't think they are going out there. The report I read said they were doing it all from a studio in Manchester.

That's the second time that you've mentioned him, SC.
Are you trying to prepare us for something?

Having seen Adebayor's attempts at punditry, I'm surprised that Redknapp could understand what he was on about, let alone want to sign him.
    Hestringsallofhiswordstogetherwithoutabreak. Almostincomprehensible.

Don't the Beeb normally have an on site studio at the big tournaments?

If so, I suppose Harry can get a good look at any potential signings, and 'ave a word in their ear.

To save spending too much of your license fee, the BBC is doing all their coverage of the Euros from their new base in Salford.

Of course, a better way to save spending too much of our license fees would be not building a massive new complex in Salford and moving a large chunk of your productions and staff there to justify building it...

Hope they don't get McCarthy again. He's so dull and northern!

He's a vast improvement on some of them - Shearer says nothing at all at great length, whilst Lawrenson ruins games with his commentary that at times comes across as snide and obnoxious for no reason. Then there's the matches they either don't do any research for (despite FIFA/UEFA sending out information packets to all broadcasters several weeks ahead of all tournaments), or they decide that they're not interested in the match so that means neither are the viewers, as happened with the Slovenia/Algeria game at the last World Cup.

"And joining me for their thoughts on today's game are Harry Redknapp, Edison Cavani and Jan Vertonghen..."
