Nice to see a set of supporters talking such sense about Roy Hodgson getting the England job, rather that listening to all the **** the written press and people like Merson come out with.
It doesn't help when the media bring up Hodgson playing in South Africa during the apartheid regime nearly forty years a go.
Jarold, you left off the one thing that all the pro 'arry writers have convieniently forgotten. Whilst they are all only too happy to bang on about Hodgson's failure at Liverpool (whilst ignoring getting to two European finals during his career), what they never mention is Harry's time at Southampton! The F.A. have, in my view, got this decison spot on. Merson = moron.
Loved the press conference 1st question asked: "what are you going to do about John terry and rio Ferdinand" 1/ did they really expect an answer, he's had the job 2 minutes 2/ is that the most important issue for England right now? The media are going to hate on this guy, I sincerely hope he can prove them wrong. I wanted Harry, I won't lie about it, but I'll back Hodgson no worries at all. English and a good manager in my book, we could(and have) done a lot worse and I'll judge him on the performances he can get out of our players, and his squad selections.
It's time to get behind and back Roy and the boy's 100%. Ok, things are not as most expected. Who cares. We are England and we need to start getting behind the team for the Euro's. We are better when we stand as one and actually support our team. Come on England!
I saw it but all I read was "tired out pun on the way he speaks" They'll undermine him any way they can.
that was actually quite funny monarch the way the press has reacted tells us everything. they wanted redknapp cos he tells them things and they wanted the stories that come with the guy. they'll get nothing from hodgson so they've decided to abuse him across the board. its no coincidence that these so-called journalists who are doing the slanging are the ones i'd associate with being 'close' to harry...
Personally I think the guy will do a good job. 'Arry was the peoples choice because of his high profile, good or bad, but lets be honest here who else was there?,Hodgsons appointment was a surprise to everyone, but now he's in place he needs everyones support.
i think it was always a myth that the 'peoples choice' was redknapp. it was the media sticking him in the job before anyone could argue. i certainly thought he'd get the gig but i wanted hodgson ahead of him, simply cos there would have been a circus around the whole squad with harry. it would have been like erikssen all over again. plus, he is tactically naive - most people can see this. international football is so slow paced and very tactical. he's a very good man-manager and many would argue thats what england have needed for a while, and no doubt some of the players were hoping for the easy ride harry would have brought. but hodgson will get them well drilled and organised, he'll make them hard to beat. it would have been chaotic under harry.
Why didn't Merson apply for the job then as he's been such a success as a manager????? Alcholic, Drug taking ****! Oh yes, and he works for a gangster!!! Must say poor old Roy looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights at the press conference last night, but, lets all give him some space, stop digging up and writing stupid headlines. A lot of what's gone on in the past wasn't down to the managers anyway, it was down to the "Golden Generation" of over hyped average footballers, they deserve more of the crap than the managers! ILD OTBC
100% agree. Roy will do a good job, bearing in mind the "average" talent he has at his disposal. Not one player IMO who would make a World X1
I agree entirely that this is definitely the correct appointment, the only problem I have with it is that it took the FA a decade and about £50m in wages to come to the conclusion that Woy is the right man. His credentials back then were as sound as they are now, if only the FA hadn't gone down the Sven route when they did, and also paving the way for Capello, then there would have been an awful lot more money available to invest in the future and the so called 'Golden Generation' may actually have achieved something ni the last ten years. Ah well, they've got the right man now at least and let's just hope the press and media give him a fair crack at the whip, however sadly I'm not holding my breath for that to happen
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but didn't a certain England manager, who managed a 'local' team, get pilloried by the press, but the FA stuck by him, and in my opinion, he had one of the best England teams that I can remember? Hopefully Roy Hodgson will be given the time as Bobby Robson was. One thing about Roy Hodgson. His teams may not be the easiest on the eye, but his teams have all been hard to beat. That would be a good start for England.
Bobby Robson, why did they feel the need to do that to such a great man. I hate the press with a passion, but you may already be aware of that! ILD OTBC
