Just listened again to the interviews with Burnsy that Nick gave.
When asked if there was money to spend in January he said that he could not answer that. But then went on to talk about how spending 1.9m on Billy Sharp along with a big wage bill would be "Bad practice" and later that the club had to be run sensibly. But the money was there, he turned it down!
Nick should have taken the money for Billy Sharp and looked to the greater goal. The Premier League. Not wanting to upset the apple cart in the changing room is a poor excuse, thats part of management. But saying that not doing things the Barmby/Pearson way is not sensible and bad practice is a dangerous game to play when you dont deliver.

Hesford is right as far as I'm concerned. Interesting comments that they expected us to make top 6. Still smacks of covering their own backsides. If they honestly thought that they couldve quite easily got rid much more sensibly.
That's the point, love or hate Nick as a manager, of course they are free to hire/fire who they want, but the way they have handled it this week is just crazy, and does nothing but harm the club. It's hardly a great advertisement for trying to attract quality players or get fans on their side.
They can say what they like now it's after the event. They would have bid for Messi and Rooney? Papa Allam is so full of s**t even his eyes are brown.

I think it is fascinating to come on here today and see a shift in opinion based entirely on the contents of one hastily arranged interview. Lets not forget that Barmby was suspended, he would not be 'suspended' for footballing reasons, he wouldve been sacked and they (Allams) wouldve come out from the start and said if it was for that.
I said all along I think if it was for football reasons they'd have a valid point but they've made no indication until now that this is what is based on. Seems to me like they're desperately trying to justify it whilst knowing Nick cant speak.

Good point BCC but how many football managers have they sacked before?..did they tell AP their plans and he/Barmby went ape sht resulting in sacking for AP and suspension/sacking for threatening behaviour for NB(which is a darn sight cheaper than paying up his contract.
If all this is true about Barmby not wanting to sign Sharp because of the high wages etc then I think he probably made the right decision.. Barmby's focus is clearly on the long term and he wants to develop the squad of players we've got, doing so will produce a loyal set of players who won't just escape to Leicester when things get a bit hairy.. Also, baring in mind he's just been through quite a dodgy financial moment for Hull.. the last thing he'd want to do is be responsible for going back into those realms. Imagine if it came out in the press that Sharp was earning 40k a week after what has happened with Bullard et al.. We'd go mad that Barmby had been so stupid. Obviously we did need a striker in January but I think I'd prioritise the financial stability of club and then add a couple of extra players in summer.
A sound financial footing should definitely not be NBs first priority,as a football manager hes here to bring us success not count the pennies.thats the directors job.
That's the problem with employing a manager that has such strong bonds with the club isn't it. I can't see him wanting to risk the long term future of the club just to have another little novelty year in the premier league
Yes, but as a former player at many clubs, including recently at Hull City, he knows all to well about creating a team spirit and positive atmosphere at the club. Throwing money at a player, who will come in on double/triple what the other highest earner at the club does nothing but damage the morale in the dressing room.
I've said it a few times already, but until we hear all 3 sides to the story, and not just what the Allams are telling us, it isn't fair to say Nick/Adam should have done this or that.

We would have reviewed our wage structure to both attempt to keep us up and not break the bank. We can all see some crazy decisions by Phil Brown. Nick wouldn't have done them so there would have been a reasonable chance of stabilising. Unless you think Adam Pearson has been pulling some kind of ridiculous con for the last 10 years, then I always look to him as a weathervain of what is actually gone on.

But in times of bullsh1t, half truths, misinformation, chinese whispers etc etc etc all clouding the truth, I look to Adam's words and behaviour as to what is really going on.

Because its completely unlikely that the Allams have shared their plans with Nick, he didnt agree and threw one of his famous tantrums like he did when he was a player? You do all remember his temper?

its hard to believe that money was available and that barmby refused to bring anyone else in for fear of disrupting the dressing room... but everything seems to point to this being true.
if you remember back in late january when barmby confirmed no players would be coming in, he said that was his decision and he would take full responsibility if it turned out to be a bad choice..
maybe the allams have held him to that....
