Honest question guys. I see (believe it or not) on arsenal newsnow a lot of reports stating you are in with a chance of getting eden hazard. I personally believe he will end up at one of the manchester clubs but do you think you have a chance of snapping him up and if so would you be satisfied splurging most of your transfer budget on one player (i assume he will cost round about £40mil). Like i said i have no way of verifying the authenticity of these sources so was wondering whether you guys have any info.

I'd love him but we can't afford him.

    Seems pretty unlikely.
Regardless of his claims that he'd like to join a club where he's got a good chance of starting every week, I'd have thought that one of the big spenders would be his first choice.
Either of the Mancs, Chelsea or even possibly one of the non-English clubs with cash, like PSG or Malaga.

i wouldn't say you guys dont have the money especially if modric leaves (if he wants to i would certainly let him go for a good price) though you never know about these things.

Our midfield doesn't need a marquee addition like hazard, and won't unless we sell van Der Vaart or Modric in the summer. It needs tweaking, that much is true - selling some deadwood (Bentley and Jenas to go, we'll consider offers for Dos Santos and Pienaar) and replacing them with good players to have around, which may include one or two youngsters.

The money needs to be spent up front with a couple of strikers coming in, one to fill the Adebayor role in the team and the other to be an improvement on Defoe/Saha, plus we need to look at adding options at the back - King, Gallas and Nelsen don't have five seasons between them, Bassong is leaving and Corluka may be following him.

can we sign Ever Banega instead..yes i know hes crocked at the moment but when on form and fit he will leave Modric in his shadow.

I need to find out who this guy is, you keep going on about him Dona! i just had a quick look at his wikipedia page.... his goals - games ratio doesn't look too impressive.

what is it about him that would make the difference?

Like HBIC says, we need better depth in midfield rather than a top, top player. It'd be money far better spent on a striker and a new centre back.

    I don't think it's likely anyway.

yeah his hair is pretty cool i guess! <laugh>

better that it's in the final 3rd too, if he can pick apart a defence, that could help us, as we sometimes look clueless on the edge of the box. you're not the only one going on about him Dona, which is why I asked. We've certainly got to have options, even if he's a like for like replacement. (or there abouts)

well i think we hover around the oppo third alot without making that killer pass...so if we can get someone who can do that then i think it is just as good as goalscoring..however the problem could also be that we have the likes of VDV ready to make that 'slide ruler' but the strikers are not sharp enough to have anticipated it..therefore the problem lies with the strikers?

and if Notso meant forget it with regards to Hazard then i would agree with him for 40 million...i get a feeling that he will disapoint for that much money.

yeah, good points. we know we've got to find strikers with more goals, and more importantly.. when we need the goals. For a few seasons now, we've faffed about and not quite brought in the quality we need. Ade's done a great job. he's scored a fair few and got a good number of assists, but we still need that striker will the killer touch. someone we can rely on. - we don't quite have that yet.

at 40 million for Harard, we're non starters. at 30 million we're non starters. 20-25 mill and we might be in with a shout. but some of that (maybe 5-8mill) will be made up of a player in exchange.

Mancini and Platt recently watched him in person, meaning both Manchester clubs are more than interested, so what on earth makes anyone think he'd come here...for half the money aswell. Thought everyone knew that, and thats why I said to forget it.

so you know it wont happen the Roo as Notso keeps on pointing out <laugh>

i like that Loriente fella at Atletico...he seems to be one of them right place right time kinda strikers...and if we get someone like that then we may save a few bob looking for that midfielder as i think VDV is up there with the best as an attacking mid..when he is on form and supported by good players..i still believe our team should be built around VDV..hes awsome and being taken for granted by us i feel.

again Dona, same situation with Llorente. too late. everyone's seen him now. he's signed a new contract, but that means nothing in football. it just means bigger money to buy him out. what it does mean is that we are priced out of it by default! <laugh>

rafa's awesome Dona, and do you know what? he seems loyal and passionate. i think it's those attributes (as well as his technical ability) that make the difference, and why the fans love him so much.

Notso... can you just confirm...what do you think our chances are on Hazard? Me and Dona weren't aware that "everyone knew that" <laugh>

The main thing you need to know is he's out until August with a serious ankle injury.

Which he picked up after being run over by his own car.

    Whilst he was in it...
