RED FLAG! Medical helicopter grounded due to bad weather so I think the session's over. Alonso fastest. We should have done a sweepstakes for testing. EDIT: testing resumes. Thanks, BBC 5Live.
Wow. Just didn't understand why, there was plenty of coverage (well at least text commentary, team tweets etc) for the pre-season tests. Rather stupid
Not even Autosports live text coverage is happening. Everyone must be on holiday. Damp... please log in to view this image
I think it's just cost cutting. Pre-season testing is much more significant than this three-day test on a circuit that isn't representative of F1 circuits generally so it's not something media outlets really need to commit to. Natalie Pinkham has been in Hungary following Button's antics so Sky aren't that bothered.
McLaren had the same issue in Jerez so at least the gasses are going roughly where they should be. The best part about today was Alonso's lap times on his long stint - they didn't drop off so quickly like they did in Jerez (when the exhaust was overheating the rear tyres). I hope this means they've finally sorted out their exhaust problems, so they could use this configuration in Spain if their Sauber exhaust doesn't work.
Day 1 - Top Speed (KPH) 1. Alonso - 229.02 2. Webber - 225.73 3. Vergne - 225.07 4. D'Ambrosio - 224.65 5. Rosberg - 224.51 6. Kobayashi - 222.83 7. Turvey - 221.35 8. Bianchi - 220.90 9. Gonzalez - 216.54 10. Pic - 216.14 11. Bottas - 211.73 12. Paffett - 170.26
Paffett only knows up to 5th gear Given how damp and merky it was out there I doubt any of the teams got to push their tyres as much as they would have liked to see how they can maintain wear. Nico Rosberg got to drive the furthest today. Slightly less than the distance from Manchester to Bristol
Apparently it is, but theres nothing stopping them doing it in tests for "comparisons" [Various twitter 'ers]
