Morning all, Racing today comes from,

Yarmouth, Lingfield, Exeter, Kempton, Sedgefield and Ballinrobe.

Two for me from my GG alerts

5.30 Lingfield THE NILE, far too short for me at 8/13!!

and

8.35 Kempton DARROW, 14/1. Had it in my alerts from last season, ran 1st time this season last month, when hammered from 12/1 in to 9/2, and just ran out of steam in the final furlong, so will give it another chance!!

<laugh> So I can blame Yorkies then.

I was sort of hoping the heavy track at Exeter might turn the 3 mile Chase into a slogathon. Obviously Sea Saffron is going to take a power of beating, but was wondering if the top one Bench Warrent who just missed a place in G3 four runs back, can do the job today. Quite often these mud affairs can take the sting out of those with serious weigh to carry, but I can't seem to find something down the bottom to be competitive.

I see that May has started in the same way that April ended with a huge deluge of precipitation and quite how Exeter has managed to pass an inspection and what sort of inspection this was are the questions of the day in my humble opinion. Another is why do we need five race meetings today??? A bally Tuesday for heaven&#8217;s sake! Especially seeing as just one race has a prize pot in excess of five figures! Deffo a case of quantity over quality and yet another indictment of the poor state of British racing at the moment.

Anyway enough babbling from me the &#8216;brass tacks&#8217; of the post is that today has to be a &#8216;no bet&#8217; one given the standard of racing and the huge uncertainty re so many runners that prevails due to the ground at the turf venues. Good luck though if you do decide to wager.

Finally, a public service announcement. West End Rocker is currently quoted by every major bookie chappie for the 2013 Grand National. Do not back him as Alan King has stated he deffo won&#8217;t run at Aintree again as the race had a adverse effect on the horse and let to him afterwards being very difficult to handle and somewhat uncooperative. Quite why he ran him at the weekend then is a ponderable but the trainer hopes that a long summer break will restore his interest in the sport.

One more point re Alan King, meanwhile, very interesting to see that he&#8217;s looking to chuck Grumeti straight back onto the flat on Sunday. Would run off just 83 in a £40k handicap at Newmarket.

(Three miles in heavy going at this testing course is indeed a slogathon, but this one has a squeak at the weights. Promising young rider's claim of 5lbs. should help a bit too).

The two horses I am on today are:

3.30 Lingfield - Poker Hospital
He steps up in class today but in his last race he beat favourite Homeward Strut by 3 1/2 lengths and Homeward strut has since came 3rd in a class 4 race.

2.30 Lingfield - One More Roman
This is a weak race and he won his last race

I had my dough on him LTO when I thought he ran a bit flat...
 
HAKUNA MATATA runs in the Sedge 7.45 tonight. I put it up on its last run as I was convinced it was one of those Ellison handicap jobs. Well it ran a stinker but tonight Jason Maguire is on board and its being nibbled, so I wonder.............
 
8.35 Kempton

Darrow 12/1

LTO at Yarmouth on handicap debut William Knight's 3 year was very well backed and the way he travelled into the race over 9f I can see why. He travelled miles better than anything else but when asked to quicken I think the combination of the final furlong, soft ground and coming back from an 8th month break put paid to his chances. Tonight he makes his AW debut and has been dropped 2lb from his last effort. William Knight has his horses in good order and Shane Kelly makes his way from Lingfield here for one ride.

9.05 Kempton

Amba 28/1

Definitely only one to have a small bet on but looks overpriced at 28/1. I'm basing this one bit of form as Des Donovan injury plague 6 year old hasn't shown a lot to date. With only 4 starts to his name, Amba rang a cracker back in November when finishing only a 3.25L beaten 3rd at Wolves (although both horses could have probably pulled another length further clear). That was a maiden and the form of that race is pretty strong. The winner Hamaat won off a mark of 73 on his handicap debut before putting up another excellent effort when finishing only 0.75L beaten 3rd off a mark of 80 in a hot handicap. Furthermore, the 2nd won a maiden on his next start carrying 10lb higher than a 73 rated horse so it certainly isn't bad form. Off a rating of 63, I don't think Amba looks terribly weighted and he should be fit from a recent reappearance run. Eddie Ahearn, who has is in cracking form with 2 wins already at the track tonight, waits around for a couple of hours to make his first start for Des Donovan and I certainly think he deserves a little e/w
