I hope that this is a new question and a good topic for a debate.
Who in your opinion is the least and most successful transfer away from CR. Who was sold as a star player and became a dud in his new club and who has shone and improved (further) since leaving.
To start the ball rolling I would offer as least successful Justin Fashanu - sold for £1m and didn't do it at all at Nottingham Forest. For the most successful I would probably plump for Steve Bruce who was a very ood player for us and became a key player in the heady Man Utd days. What do you reckon?
 
Least successful was Flecky - never the player at Chelsea that he was here and not the player he was when he returned.

Most successful Chris Sutton at Blackburn - great partnership with Shearer, but then, like Torres, destroyed his reputation at Chelsea
 
Many of our best players eventually leave and fail, why is that?

Least successful outgoing - I would say Robert Fleck, Lee Marshall is a good call too and probably a long list of others.

Most successful outgoing - Steve Bruce of course, Chris Sutton (at Blackburn), Mike Phelan.

wow - written at the same time and good to know my view will be shared by at least one other <ok> <laugh>
 
What about Keith O'Neil as least successful ? Or how about Sammy Clingan <laugh>

Going off topic slightly, we've had some bad purchases too Darren Beckford springs to mind, we payed nearly £1M for him, a lot of money at the time <doh>
 
How many games did Andy Linighan play for Arsenal "Reserves" after his move from Norwich? - goes to prove grass isn't always greener on the other side
 
Chris Woods did well and won a lot of silverware up the road although probably helped by the "two contracts" culture currently bankrupting the Huns. Kevin Reeves went to Citeh for a packet and spent more time on the treatment table than the pitch.
 
Bellamy's an odd one, has sporadically been brilliant but then there's all the fallings out with managers and teammates. He should have stuck up front with Iwan.

Dion Dublin did pretty well after being let go by us.
