Xavi 2011/12 Spanish La Liga GAMES GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS 29 10 6 36 Andrés Iniesta 2011/12 Spanish La Liga GAMES GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS 24 2 7 44 Cesc Fábregas Francesc Soler Fabregas 2011/12 Spanish La Liga GAMES GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS 26 9 8 43 I see what you mean, there is absolutely no comparision between Cesc, Xavi and Iniesta
Chris Brunt got more goals and more assists in the league last season than Xavi (as I've repeatedly posted on here). Stats don't tell the whole story.
So its ok to make biased anti Fabregas comments like Dona and others have, but you arnet allowed to use facts in the assessment of a player. That makes sense.
I think it's pretty obvious that your bias is at least as relevant as theirs, if not more so. I've also clearly pointed out why stats aren't a particularly reliable way to evaluate a player's contribution, without context. I didn't stop you from making a comment, I merely pointed out why it might not tell the whole story. I assume that you don't think that Chris Brunt had a better season than Xavi last year?
Fabregas is playing in the same team, country and league as the other 2, surely in those circumstances its reasonable to compare them, both by watching them play, as I do on TV and by looking at their stats. Chris Brunt is entirely irrelevant unless he also played in La Liga and acheived better stats than those Barca players.
I think it's a hell of a lot harder to score goals and get assists in West Brom's midfield than it is in Barca's. Raul Garcia appears to have the same number of goals and assists in a similar number of appearances to Fabregas. Is he as good?
i dont think im biased i think he is far too similr to the other 3 and that results in an epic bore when they come up with a team with intresting tactics.....id criticise my own team so no other team is going to get off lightly. then again maybe i demand good football and that tippy tappy everyone bangs on about is not my cup of tea...give me adrid's or Bayern's tactics yesterday anytime....they have ****ed over Fabregas for years because he is a catalonian..and they didnt stop tapping him till they got him....I would have somene like Ever Banega in that middle anyday than Fabregas...and i hope if we lose Modric then we spend our money getting that lad in...its not just about goals...if it was, Modric would be on the bench plus i cant help liking or dislikeing a footballer based on more than what he does on a pitch.....e.g Terry..what a dik..regrdless of how well he plays.
This is a pointless argument. Conclusion you think stats are irrelevant. Perhaps you would like a striker in your team who scored goals but it doesn't really matter how many he gets.
Stats don't tell the whole story. I didn't say that they were irrelevant. My first comment about them was merely that they don't tell the whole story. I've pointed out two clear examples where you wouldn't agree that the stats say everything.
I didn't say they were everything either, however they are significant in the comparison. If you were judging players just by looking at their stats on paper then clearly that would be stupid, but I think we have all seen plenty of these three players.
I think that most people would say that Xavi and Iniesta are both better than Fabregas. He's a very good player, but they're currently a level above him. I don't think that anyone's doubting his ability as a player.
...PNP and Topgun paused to get their breath......they stared into each others eyes...seconds seemed like minutes........suddenly, without realising, they were kissing passionately.... /gets coat
They probably would because most people buy into the Barca team of super men hype that the Media love to spout. Its easy to believe when you dont see them play every week in your own country. Plus I have my doubts about the quality of half the teams in the Spanish league.
There are more than two good sides in La Liga as premiership contenders in this years Europa league have discovered!
