OK, this might be a reason for your immediate post-match major doom and gloom, when things don't go to plan. No, I didn't think we were capable of automatic promotion. Beating Norwich in League One, or coming second is not an guaranteed pointer to success in the Championship. I thought the best we could expect was to scrape into the play-offs or be mid-table. Incidentally, at no point did I think we'd be troubled with relegation. Funnily enough, where Brighton are currently, in the table, is pretty much spot on where I thought Saints would end up. In effect, in my book, Brighton have had the good, solid season I was expecting Saints to have. The fact is, like Norwich the previous season, Saints have massively overachieved, and I think your thoughts of promotion in the first season were unrealistic. Just because Norwich did it, doesn't mean it becomes the ordinary thing. What Norwich did was absolutely superb, let's not forget that. Incidentally, what they are doing now is nothing short of astounding.

I am generally very pessimistic about all things football, however I absolutely thought we would get promoted at the start of the season and be in one of the automatic positions. The game against Leeds only confirmed what I already knew. The only time I have felt pessimistic all season is now. In fact, from the moment Pompey scored that last minute goal. However, the good thing about being a pessimist is that if things go wrong its only what you were expecting to happen anyway, and if things go well.....brilliant.

Jen, I also have a feeling that we will play eachother early on at St Mary's. (Maybe your first home game.) With you winning and me getting alot of stick from my Saints friends. If you go up ofcourse. ;P 2-1 with goals from Lambert and a new signing. It will be sunny....That is my vision.
