But Bent's past would? I agree with every word you've said here, syd. Indeed, I think that's the sort of professional view that Bruce and Quinn will take. But if Villa went down and we put in a bid for a striker with a 5 year proven record (as opposed to Carroll's six month record), where would you stand? Would his past bother you then?
 
Apart from a couple o flashes o brilliance, I don't think Gyan has done much - sorry but i am just being realistic!!!

Bent is an out and out goal scorer.

With Gyan we need to be scoring lots more goals from midfield.

PS - Carroll will be invisible within 3-4 years. I know someone who knows him. He is a knacker!!! A time-bomb waiting to go off. Thick as geordie ****!!!

No, they both are - they both score and miss many great goals and easy chances. Earlier in the thread, someone said that Caroline is unproven in the Premier League - several-chances-asamoah, Gyan HAS NOT proven himself at this level either, though I'd give him more credit than this. (and as some people have said, AC's coming back from injury so criticism of his last 3-4 appearances is surely unfair)
