Hello everyone. Did you sleep well? We've said everything we can say, picked the bones of it, and now face playing for promotion on the last day of the season with a 2 points in hand. We certainly deserve to go up after the season we've had, but if we lose we deserve that as well. It's no good picking on one match as a turning point because we have lost a few throughout the season...we could just as easily say losing to Leicester away at the beginning of the season has put us in this position as we could blame the loss at M'boro. We could also say that if we hadn't won at Leeds we'd be a point behind. It is what it is....and that is a fairly strong position. We should get behind the team on Saturday as if we have just won and leapfrogged West Ham. If that had happened we'd be ecstatic going into the last game with 2 points cushion. Southampton expects!
Sometimes I could just hug you Fran. Good post and I think what we're looking for is a little perspective. COYR
Just you and me up, Fats I think last night we all felt like we had lost a game, but we hadn't...Leicester did. We are winning alternate games at the moment, so that will be a win on Saturday. The team are still playing well, but not getting those results we were finding so easy at the beginning of the season. Adkins will fill them with positivity..he knows all the right things to say. The fans will be behind them and what a great end to the season this could be. COYR
Nigel always has stressed its a long race and he just wanted to stay in it with a chance come April and that indeed is where we stand going into the final game fate in our own hands not bad for a team who have just been promoted leaving behind the darkest days in the clubs history. You are right Fran we have won games we could have lost and lost a few we should have won its all irrelevant now and has been part of a great season to leave us where we are now on the brink of a great achievment its not what Wham do Saturday its what we do that matters.
Spot on...as ever. Treat this as the one-off game, for which we are so well equiped to win. St Mary's will rock ....that is our part of the effort and we must keep it up for 90+ minutes
Ah, Fran, the voice of reason as ever. I have my tickets for Saturday and there is nothing I can do now apart from attend and sing. There is no point in fretting about what ifs and there are no other games to consider. I am not saying that I won't be excited as we get closer, but perhaps now it will get a bit calmer on here? One can only hope.
Well said Fran BTW I had a dream . West ham scored first on saturday , it was a Matt Taylor own goal .........
We want to score first, but not in the first minute...that doesn't work. Score after 5 minutes and I'll be happy, but if we score after 47 seconds I will be devastated.
Great post Fran, I think we all need to take a step back and realise where we are in comparison to where we thought we'd be at the start of the season. Whatever happens, we've had an amazing season and I'll be one of thousands giving my support on Saturday! St Mary's will be rocking! Together as one - COYR!!!
Crikey how many cameras were on you fatletiss Sorry letiss, that was below the belt.... But in all seriousness, I didn't actually see you on the tele anyway so I'm just having a joke!
You know when you thought you'd lost the TV picture, that was Fatletiss passing in front of the camera. Someone stop me...I could do this all day I'm sure he's lovely really.
I accidentally overslept for three hours, so that answers that question. Anyway I'm pretty relaxed, both right now and about Saturday. Football is all about fine margins, one Kelvin save at Leeds, one own goal at Hull, one set piece at West Ham, one penalty decision at Millwall (ok two) have put us here. I use this line every day, but to go up you have to earn it. And to earn it we're going to have to beat Coventry. Nigel and the boys haven't let me down yet though, and right now I'm almost certain they will do it.
